The Boys is set to release the fifth and final season in just a few weeks, with fans naturally excited to see how the superhero epic will conclude. The cast will feature the return of Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, this world’s version of Captain America, only a lot more brutal and bigoted.
What’s even bigger for fans is that the trailer shows a scene of Soldier Boy slamming a man against a wall, played by Misha Collins, while another character, played by Jared Padalecki, looks on in horror. As anyone who knows the trio can tell you, Ackles and Padalecki spent 15 seasons playing Dean and Sam Winchester on the WB/CW smash hit Supernatural, with Collins joining the show as angel Castiel.
Speaking to TV Line, Ackles admitted he was nervous for his former co-stars to pop into the series as he knew how wild it could get.
"This was a world that I was nervous coming into, being such a fan of the show, and I felt like I had kind of settled in. And then here these guys come. So I was nervous for them. ... I was really rooting for them, as I think we do in real life. They both did great. I was super happy with what their experience was, and what mine was with them on the set. It was a lot of fun... and probably too much fun. They were probably wondering how we got 15 seasons [of Supernatural] with the three of us just being idiots."
This marks the first on-screen reunion of the three actors, although they have remained friends since Supernatural ended in 2020. Ackles had talked of possibly cameoing on Padalecki’s CW show Walker, but it never came to be. Just what brings them back together?

A major mystery around season 5 is just who Padalecki and Collins are playing. Their characters aren’t identified in the press releases, leading fans to speculate whether they’re playing established comic characters or original ones.
Naturally, Ackles isn’t giving out any spoilers, simply saying, "I don't think I can say anything about why the scene happened. But I will say that it's an episode that is ... definitely one to keep a lookout for, because the whole sequence is bananas."
Given everything we’ve already seen on The Boys, Ackles's statement that this is crazy speaks volumes. Padalecki appears to be wearing some sort of costume in the trailer, hinting he’s another supe, while Collins appears to be just a civilian. It’s inevitable we’ll get some sort of in-joke to their Supernatural connection while still flexing their muscles with a new show.
We’ll have to see how it works out, but it’s still a major reunion that makes The Boys’ final season even hotter for fans!
The Boys season 5 premieres April 8 on Prime Video.
