Long-awaited Marvel revival could happen 'sooner than you think'

We've all wanted to see this iconic hero debut in the MCU, and not only will that be a reality next year, but they might also have their own Disney+ series.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had an uneven journey on Disney+ so far. Granted, series like WandaVision, Agatha All Along, and Daredevil: Born Again managed to captivate audiences from the get-go, and their stories will be followed up on in the near future. That being said, shows such as Moon Knight and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law introduced big iconic heroes on the small screen, only for them to never be seen again. Furthermore, Mephisto also made his long-awaited debut in Ironheart, but chances are we won't see him until after the end of the Multiverse Saga. And that's without talking about Secret Invasion.

This disconnection between the Marvel Disney+ series and the rest of the MCU has led the superhero giant to rethink its strategy moving forward. Now, only projects with potential for multiple seasons will be greenlit, and the best part is that we won't have to wait long between seasons. Daredevil: Born Again is the perfect example, since it will have yearly releases, with the second season set to premiere on March 4, 2026. The Punisher also has a clear roadmap ahead, given that he'll have his own Special Presentation next year, before appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Fortunately, another street-level hero might also have a bright future ahead.

Marvel has teased that a Jessica Jones series is in the works

After a long time off-screen, Jessica Jones will finally join the MCU in next year's Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. While the prospect of watching the iconic Defender join forces with Matt Murdock once more is nothing short of exciting, it appears there are more plans in store for her character beyond that point.

During the latest episode of Phase Hero's podcast, host Brandon Davis had the opportunity to interview Jessica Jones herself, Krysten Ritter, as well as the Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum. When Brandon asked if Jessica Jones would ever have her own equivalent of Born Again, Brad responded: "Maybe sooner than you think". As if that hint wasn't enough, we also had yet another tease indicating that the private investigator will have her own series.

Brandon Davis asked Krysten Ritter if there's anything she would like to do with Jessica's character moving forward, to which she replied: "Yes. I'm going to say yes. There's a lot of stuff that I felt there was room to explore and Brad and I talked about it, and I'm not going to say any of it because we're going to be doing it". There could be a small chance that she could be talking about Jessica's arc in the next season of Born Again, but it's impossible to deny that the most likely option is that Marvel intends to expand the street-level corner of its interconnected universe.

Rumors suggest that Marvel has a bigger plan in store for both Daredevil and Kingpin, as the two are intended to cross paths with Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Besides, now that the Punisher will finally join the extended MCU in Brand New Day, we could watch him appear in any other project at any given moment. That's why it isn't too far-fetched to assume a greater plan is also in store for Jessica, and having a stand-alone series might be the first step in making it a reality.

It has been reported that there will be an eventual MCU street-level team-up, with Spider-Man and Daredevil taking part in it. If that were to be the case, then it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume Marvel intends to adapt the events of the Devil's Reign comic book storyline, in which Jessica Jones had a role to play. So, there's a universe where the wall-crawler, the Man Without Fear, Punisher, and Jessica Jones all share the screen. Besides, if Luke Cage and Iron Fist are brought back (as it has been rumored), then the team-up might be even bigger than anticipated.

Jessica Jones' future in the MCU might be bigger than expected, and the best part is that we won't have to wait long before audiences see her steal the spotlight on the small screen once again.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will be released on March 4, 2026.
