The Marvel Cinematic Universe was created with the mission of assembling Earth's Mightiest Heroes on the big screen. Not only did that promise become a reality, but other huge crossovers and team-ups have taken place over the years, too. The Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers joined forces in Avengers: Infinity War, all three live-action Spider-Men came together during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Deadpool and Wolverine had an entire movie dedicated to their very unique friendship. Fortunately, it appears the best is yet to come.
Earth's Mightiest Heroes will cross paths with the X-Men next year with the release of Avengers: Doomsday. But in case that wasn't enough, a new report revealed that some of the MCU's most iconic street-level characters will have the spotlight all to themselves as well. We know these characters prefer to go solo, but they have the potential to make one of the best Marvel teams in live-action.
Daredevil, Spider-Man, Punisher, and more will join forces in the MCU
Renowned insider Alex Perez does monthly Q&As, which are later published in The Cosmic Circus. In the most recent edition, Perez was asked whether Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Punisher would team up in the MCU, to which he responded: "In the future, with more characters, sure".
The idea of Marvel's greatest street-level heroes (and a very violent anti-hero) coming together isn't something completely new. For starters, the wall-crawler and Frank Castle will share the screen next year in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Furthermore, a hidden Easter Egg in the finale of Daredevil: Born Again season 1 hinted that Matt Murdock would eventually join forces with Peter Parker. Additionally, the two heroes briefly crossed paths in Spider-Man: No Way Home, albeit none of them had their superhero costumes on.

However, we haven't watched the three characters work together in unison, trying to achieve a greater goal. While Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars would seem like ideal places for that to happen, the same source has revealed that characters like Daredevil, Punisher, Moon Knight, and Werewolf aren't likely to appear in the upcoming multiversal crossovers. That could explain why Marvel is working on two separate crossovers for these characters: A Midnight Sons movie and the reported street-level team-up.
It's important to remember that the MCU is currently adapting the Devil's Reign comic book arc, in which Wilson Fisk becomes the mayor of New York and bends the laws to hunt all the superheroes living in the city. In the source material, multiple characters such as Luke Cage, Captain America, and Miles Morales' Spider-Man come together to rise against the Kingpin's new order. Coupled with the fact that Matt stated he "needs an army" in the finale of Born Again, it's clear the MCU has bigger plans in store for his arc.
With the report that Tom Holland's Spider-Man will eventually come face-to-face with Wilson Fisk, it isn't far-fetched to assume that this will be part of the same story in which the wall-crawler teams up with Punisher and Daredevil. The only question remaining is: Which other heroes could aid in this battle?
Kate Bishop and Hawkeye could be likely candidates, given that they have a prior history with Kingpin and are also considered street-level heroes. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage could be likely candidates as well, given that the former is confirmed to return in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 and the latter is rumored to make an appearance as well.
Given that Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man, the friendly neighborhood hero can't appear in live-action Disney+ shows. With that in mind, chances are the upcoming street-level crossover will happen in Spider-Man 5 or maybe even Spider-Man 6. While we're still a long way off from finally getting to see these heroes share the screen, it's nice to know it might become a reality either way.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026
