The Avengers: Doomsday trailer gets its most frustrating release update yet

Everyone is eager to get a glimpse at Earth's Mightiest Heroes' next adventure, but the Avengers: Doomsday trailer just received a disappointing release update.

After what has been a very shaky Multiverse Saga, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is looking to close things out in the biggest way possible. The most ambitious superhero film ever made is coming our way courtesy of Avengers: Doomsday. For the very first time in cinematic history, Earth's Mightiest Heroes will finally cross paths with The Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and the X-Men. Expectations are at an all-time high, and fans can't wait to see what Marvel has in store for us.

Four different Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers have been released so far, and they have already surpassed a billion views combined. Needless to say, there's a lot of anticipation for the movie's first full-length trailer, especially after Disney released it exclusively for CinemaCon attendees, and reactions were extremely positive. But despite the fact that multiple descriptions of the footage made their way online, fans want to see the trailer for themselves. Unfortunately, that day is still a long way off, according to a new report.

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer is reportedly not attached to The Mandalorian and Grogu

After Disney (very rudely) refused to release the Avengers: Doomsday CinemaCon trailer online, fans started theorizing about when the footage would be made available to everyone. There were three very likely scenarios: The first one was during CCXPMX26, a week after CinemaCon, but the event came and went without any Avengers announcements. Another option that could still happen is during San Diego Comic-Con, but the event is still a bit far off, as it's set to take place in late July. So that left us with a third option that everyone was cheering for: During the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu.

See, the four Avengers: Doomsday teasers were attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash back in December. Since both projects are produced by Disney, it made sense for the House of Mouse to promote Earth's Mightiest Heroes' upcoming adventure with such a big release as a new Avatar movie. Similarly, everyone eager to get a glimpse at Marvel's next crossover could simply buy a ticket to Avatar: Fire and Ash. It was a win-win scenario, and that's why many were hoping the same would hold true for The Mandalorian and Grogu. Unfortunately, it seems that will ultimately not be the case.

According to reliable insider Cryptic HD QUALITY, the Avengers: Doomsday trailer is still a galaxy far, far away, as it won't be attached to The Mandalorian and Grogu. Additionally, the same source stated that we won't even get to see a Star Wars: Starfighter tease, nor a new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Now it's all but confirmed that we'll see the Avengers: Doomsday trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, somewhere between July 23 and July 26, 2026. The release timing would also mean that the footage could be attached to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will hit theaters on July 31, 2026. What better way to promote an upcoming Marvel crossover than with another big Marvel release?

It may be disappointing to learn that we'll still have to wait a couple of months for the Avengers: Doomsday trailer. However, it makes sense that Disney wants to hold it off a little longer, especially since the movie is set to be released in December and other big projects are coming our way sooner (such as The Mandalorian and Grogu). Besides, that only means that anticipation will grow stronger and stronger.

If the Avengers: Doomsday trailer is finally released at SDCC 2026, it would come our way 145 days before the film's release. This period is consistent with other MCU releases, as Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters 149 days after its first trailer was published online. On the bright side, we have other superhero projects to look forward to in the meantime that will hopefully make the wait feel shorter, such as Spider-Noir and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18, 2026.
