Dread it, run from it, Doom arrives all the same. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen its fair share of troubles during the last seven years, but none of them have been dire enough for Earth's Mightiest Heroes to assemble once more. Unfortunately for our favorite characters (but fortunately for us), a new threat is on the horizon. Robert Downey Jr. is making his long-awaited MCU comeback, but he's not here to save the day anymore.

Avengers: Doomsday will mark the beginning of the end of the Multiverse Saga. The highly anticipated crossover will reunite superheroes from all corners of the multiverse for one explosive stand against the ruler of Latveria, Doctor Doom himself. Anticipation is at an all-time high, as not only will the movie unite the X-Men, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and Avengers in a single place, but its success is instrumental to the fate of the MCU.

After the release of Avengers: Endgame, few believed the superhero giant would be capable of reaching such unprecedented heights once more. As such, the world is ready to get a glimpse of Avengers: Doomsday and determine whether Marvel has captured lightning in a bottle once again. Fortunately, that day is finally here. CinemaCon 2026 has already given us our fair share of surprises by unveiling a new look at Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and new posters for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, the moment we all waited for is finally here. Marvel has closed things out with a bang with a new look at Avengers: Doomsday, and here's everything you need to know.

A new Avengers: Doomsday trailer is here

Avengers: Doomsday footage was shown from the get-go during Disney's opening sizzle. However, every clip was taken from the teaser trailers already released. Attendees saw glimpses of Steve Rogers riding his bike and holding his baby, Thor speaking to the All-Father, and Cyclops unleashing his optic blasts. Fortunately, it didn't stop there.

Near the end of the panel, Kevin Feige took over the stage to talk about Avengers: Doomsday, and stated that it will take place "where Endgame left off," but also "goes back to when it all started with X-Men." Furthermore, the Russo Brothers claimed that Victor von Doom is "the biggest Marvel villain of all time," even more so than Thanos.

Robert Downey Jr. then introduced a new Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which featured no shortage of shocking scenes. While the footage hasn't made its way online just yet, we have a detailed description to go by. Things kick off with Patrick Stewart's Professor X inside the X-Mansion, watching an energy rift. Then, Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom finally makes an appearance, unmasked and talking with an accent. The Marvel logo shows up, followed by a scene of the Fantastic Four meeting Earth's Mightiest Heroes inside the New Avengers Tower.

Bucky, Ant-Man, and Sam Wilson's Captain America finally cross paths with Marvel's First Family. Thor then narrates the danger that the Avengers will face in the movie: "I have fought with many warriors in my time. They were far stronger than any of us combined, and they died. They died facing enemies and threats that scared me far less than this one. Everything that we sacrificed will be for nothing if we do not stand together....If you return, you will return as brothers and sisters, but mark my words...we're going to need a miracle."

There are sequences teasing a big Avengers vs X-Men fight, such as one in which Shang-Chi battles Gambit, and Yelena goes face-to-face with Mystique (who is disguised as Yelena herself). Furthermore, attendees got to see Thor try to hit Doctor Doom with Stormbreaker, but the ruler of Latveria stopped the hit with just two fingers. Speaking of the God of Thunder, the trailer ends with a scene of him reuniting with Steve Rogers. Thor says, "It can't be," before Stormbreaker flies out of his hand and into Steve's. The Avengers: Doomsday logo shows up to wrap things up.

After rumors that Marvel was considering moving the Avengers: Doomsday release date, it has been confirmed that this is not the case. The highly anticipated crossover is still set to be released on Dec. 18, 2026. That means Dunesday is still real.

With a bit of luck, it won't be long before Marvel decides to drop the first full Avengers: Doomsday trailer online for everyone to see. Even a first look at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom would be welcome at this point. However, with big events such as SDCC on the horizon, Marvel is bound to release something, and we can't wait to see how it all pans out.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
