The Avengers are in the endgame now... again. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's biggest movie of all time has returned to movie theaters ahead of the massively-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, both to remind us of the magnificence that was and spotlight the epic tales that are yet to come. And MCU fans are already losing their minds about the presentation of the film and the exciting new footage unveiled.
Yes, Avengers Endgame: Encore debuts Disney's Infinity Vision format while also featuring multiple new scenes that tie the original 2019 movie more directly to its upcoming sequel. As the MCU prepares to close out its Multiverse Saga, the clear-thinking here was that surely a few more ties to the Infinity Saga's greatest offering (and the Russo Brothers' previous Marvel triumphs) won't hurt.
But, in this modern age of digital streaming, not every audience member will head out to the movies to see a major release. So, naturally, some Marvel fans have been asking: When does Avengers Endgame: Encore come out on Disney Plus? And, perhaps more importantly, will it? It looks like we have an answer to that second question.
Avengers Endgame: Encore will seemingly get a Disney Plus release date soon
Disney has seemingly confirmed that Avengers Endgame: Encore will be making its way to streaming at some point in the near-future. The MCU movie officially has a landing page on the Disney Plus streaming service, which confirms that it will be a part of the platform's library. And, to take it one step further than that, some fans have pointed out that the film is listed under the streamer's "Coming Soon" category in some locations.
While it's not really that surprising to learn that Avengers Endgame: Encore will find its way to Disney Plus considering that it's a major Marvel release (and almost all of those stream on Disney Plus eventually), there were concerns that it might not get a big release considering that it's a re-release (and a lot of those never see the light of day after their theatrical run). Yes, this particular re-release could have been added to the platform with the upgraded color grading, but it couldn't replace the original 2019 Avengers: Endgame as the new footage is specifically designed to promote Avengers: Doomsday right now.
The fact that it has a separate landing page confirms that it will indeed get the standalone release, with Disney Plus likely treating it as a completely separate movie. And with that new footage designed to tease Avengers: Doomsday, you can rest assured that it will enjoy a big boom whenever it does make its presence felt on the platform.
As for when that may be, the likelihood is that it won't be too long. It is true that the Avengers Endgame: Encore re-release has a real chance of pushing Avengers: Endgame past Avatar - and therefore allowing it to reclaim the title of the highest-grossing movie of all time - so Marvel Studios will likely wish to capitalize on the must-see nature of those new scenes in a bid to drive up further anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday and keep it in theaters for some time. But that still doesn't change the fact that the fans who don't go to the movies still need to see those scenes before Avengers: Doomsday releases in December.
With that in mind, we're predicting that Avengers Endgame: Encore will have a Disney Plus release date set for either late October or early November, allowing the film to enjoy a second, streaming, life and once again build up the hype for Avengers: Doomsday's theatrical release in December.
