Marvel's best show has reportedly been renewed for another season
Marvel Studios' expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe onto the small screen has resulted in the juggernaut franchise appealing to a whole new variety of fans: The Disney Plus subscribers, the TV watchers, and the fans who like getting their MCU content in the comfort of their own home. Those are some pretty good fanbases to rely on, right? Right!
There have certainly been ups and downs, with the studio scoring bigger success stories with some titles than with others, but it has definitely given TV a much larger-than-life feel now that the biggest movie franchise in history now has adventures designed specifically for the small screen, too.
While the fate of many of its shows have reportedly been up in the air in recent months due to the reshuffling that has been taking place behind the scenes (due to the studio's new less-is-more approach, which may have resulted in the cancellation and renewals of certain shows), a new report may have just confirmed that one of them will be making a comeback. If it is, it's good news, because this show has been one of the MCU's very best!
Agatha All Along season 2 now rumored to be happening as new evidence suggests it might return
Ever since Agatha All Along took the world by storm in the build-up to this year's Halloween season, there have been questions about whether there will be a second season. While fans have been hoping for one, it did have a pretty complete resolution that seemingly set up different projects. And yet, there has been enough of a thread left for another season to pull on. Well, new evidence suggests that the thread might be pulled in the near-future.
As reported by CinemaBlend, industry publication Production Weekly lists Agatha All Along season 2 as one of the many projects potentially set to kick off production in the near-future. That alone has sent the Agatha fans into a meltdown as it's one of the most convincing pieces of evidence that the show could return for another outing at some point.
It is, however, important to note that this isn't a certainty either. While Production Weekly can be a reliable source, it has been wrong in the past, so there is always the chance that this is just an oversight or an assumption that a show as successful as Agatha All Along may return should Marvel choose to renew it.
And successful is exactly what Agatha has proven to be. According to Disney, the show premiered with an impressive 9.3 million viewers in its first 7 days. A great starting point, it continued to pick up more viewers throughout its run, with its seventh episode bringing in 4.2 million viewers in its first day and the eighth episode raising that number 4.6 million in its first day. The Nielsen numbers also boast a success story for Agatha, with the recent confirmation that the show amassed 744 million minutes-watched in the week that its two-episode finale was released.
Those numbers definitely suggest a second season should be on the table, especially as the show is also the cheapest Marvel Studios series produced for Disney Plus so far and the one that boasts the highest completion rate. If it does, however, some fans might find it surprising due to how the first season ended (SPOILERS ahead).
The season finale saw Agatha reveal that she had concocted the notion of the Witches' Road via the Ballad and that the road never actually existed. That is, until Billy Maximoff accidentally created it with his limitless powers. With Agatha now a ghost and Billy upset about the loss of his coven members on the Road that he created, the pair set out on an adventure to find the latter's brother, Tommy Maximoff.
There had been rumors that this story would continue in a separate MCU series, perhaps sequel series Vision Quest or even a Wiccan spinoff series, but if the reports are true and there are more adventures for Agatha Harkness and Billy Maximoff, then the thread for season 2 is definitely there.
We'll have to wait for an official confirmation from Marvel Studios before we get too excited, but when the possibility of Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke returning for another installment of some witchy wonders, you can't blame us for getting excited. After the show's streaming success and the overwhelmingly positive response, the Jac Schaeffer-produced show would be more than deserving of another run.
