The Marvel show we hoped for is reportedly happening after all
Marvel Studios has been enjoying one heck of a comeback year. Starting strong with its first ever binge-drop Echo at the beginning of the year, it returned to its glory days with box office record-breaker Deadpool and Wolverine. It also brought that success back to the small screen as Agatha All Along wound the clock back to the days of WandaVision, delivering a show with the same high quality of those early Disney Plus shows. The studio will also treat us this festive season once again as the third and final season of What If...? is releasing over the holidays.
Yes, it's been a good year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, silencing critics and setting some strong foundations for the back half of the Multiverse Saga. That back half will include the likes of Captain America: Brave New World, Daredevil: Born Again, Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Ironheart, Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Secret Wars.
However, there are also other titles that may or may not be a part of it, including Doctor Strange 3 and the rumored Scarlet Witch movie. What's even more exciting is that a new report suggests that another project is in the works, one that might be closely linked to it. And even if it isn't part of the Multiverse Saga, the fact that it could be a part of the MCU is very exciting.
Wiccan series reportedly in the works at Marvel Studios
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, a Wiccan series is in development at Marvel Studios. This comes after the scooper previously reported that a sequel series to Agatha All Along was in the works that would focus on Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wiccan, and Agatha Harkness as they set out to find the former's brother Tommy. It appears that this would indeed be a Wiccan-focused series if true.
Richtman has listed the project among titles that could be considered part of the Multiverse Saga if Marvel makes it early enough so that it can be released before Avengers: Secret Wars brings that particular story to a close. If it's not made soon enough, however, it would likely come out after the film, releasing in 2028 or beyond.
There is already a separate Agatha /WandaVision spinoff series in development that will focus on Vision, with Paul Bettany set to reprise the role as the MCU's android (who we last saw in WandaVision when he was resurrected as the White Vision). There were rumors that the show would focus on him searching for Tommy as well, but as that is seemingly Billy and Agatha's arc, that seems a bit more unlikely now.
Wiccan is portrayed by Joe Locke, who had a major part to play in Agatha All Along. The son of the Scarlet Witch, Billy was simply known as Teen in the earlier episodes due to a sigil that was placed upon him. However, he unleashed his powers in the fifth episode, confirming that he was Wanda Maximoff's son. By the time that the series ended, he had fully embraced his powers and even had a brand new, comic-accurate suit.
Agatha helped him find a body to place Tommy's soul into, officially making their goal a reality. Now, it's up to the pair to find him. With that in mind, both Locke and Kathryn Hahn could very well have more adventures ahead in the MCU (and much sooner than we thought).
Here's hoping that the story of Billy Maximoff, Agatha Harkness, and Tommy Maximoff is only just beginning. The question now is: Will Wiccan make it on time to be a part of the Multiverse Saga?
