The Multiverse Saga has been quite the journey for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The veteran franchise completed its picture-perfect Infinity Saga with the game-changing Avengers: Endgame (and offered up a prologue in Spider-Man: Far From Home) but it didn't want the story of the MCU to end there. And so, Marvel Studios put together a plan to expand the story in new ways, opening up the saga to the Multiverse itself and the franchise to streaming television, utilizing the Disney Plus streaming service to tell new stories on the small screen.

There have been highs and lows of this particular chapter in the franchise. Normally that wouldn't be surprising given that there are highs and lows to just about everything, but given Marvel's strong track record, it was surprising to audiences. In the years since the Multiverse Saga began, some of the new introductions haven't gelled with the fanbase as well as others, while even some MCU veterans struggled along the way - all of which reportedly resulted in the cancellation of a number a projects featuring those characters.

Although some of those rumors have claimed it is the end for some of those particular characters, a new report suggests that one of them will definitely be back - in surprisingly significant fashion, it seems.

Tatiana Maslany now expected to return as She-Hulk in Avengers: Doomsday for a significant role

It sounds like Tatiana Maslany will be returning to the MCU as She-Hulk after all. As reported by Comic Book Movie, the star had to cancel a planned appearance at Comic Con Liverpool this coming May due to filming commitments. Naturally, fans were quick to point out that Avengers: Doomsday will be filming in the UK from spring through summer, so the belief is that she might have been taking part in it - especially after some concept art for both the upcoming 2026 movie and its 2027 sequel Avengers: Secret Wars leaked online and featured the Jade Giantess. But that's not the most exciting part.

Comic Book Movie also reports that, after doing some digging, Maslany will seemingly be filming Doomsday heading into the summer and that her role will be "fairly significant". Needless to say, this would be a huge vote of confidence from Marvel in the She-Hulk character if true, and indeed a welcome surprise.

There is no doubt about it that She-Hulk: Attorney At Law was one of the MCU's most divisive projects throughout the Multiverse Saga, but the character of Jennifer Walters was well-received by fans. A second season of the show isn't expected to happen due to the high-budget of the first season (which still couldn't overcome harsh criticism over the CGI), with Maslany herself pointing out that it probably wouldn't happen last year. And that threw the character's future in the MCU into question - something that would have been unthinkable just three years ago when the show was among the most anticipated new arrivals of 2022.

That's what makes this potential new MCU update all the more exciting. Not only does it refute the rumors that suggested Jen wouldn't return at all, it throws expectations for Avengers: Doomsday into the air. Very few of the scoopers, updates, or rumors mentioned She-Hulk when it came to the film's potential plot points, so if the Jade Giantess is involved, this would suggest that there are plenty of surprises still in store for us all as viewers.

It's also just a good thing for the She-Hulk character. Regardless of whether your were a fan of the show or not, Jennifer Walters is one of the Multiverse Saga's biggest additions, which is understandable given that she was based on one of the most popular Marvel Comics characters who had yet to make her MCU debut at that point, so it simply wouldn't have made sense to wrap the chapter of the franchise up without featuring her in some capacity. Marvel has a knack for bringing everything together in the Avengers movies and Tatiana Maslany did such a great job in the role that it's only fitting that she gets to play some kind of part here.

As we've said so many times before, it's important to take all Marvel rumors with a pinch of salt, but as this one suggests that another major character will be involved in Avengers: Doomsday and / or Avengers: Secret Wars, it's safe to say that - one way or another - these two movies are set to be real star-studded affairs. Here's hoping that She-Hulk is a part of them after all.
