We've watched no shortage of exciting Marvel Cinematic Universe crossovers throughout the years, but the most exciting one might be on the horizon.

There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people to see if they could become something more. See if they could work together to fight the battles that we never could. The Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole was built on that idea, and as a result, we've seen no shortage of exciting team-ups take place on both the big and small screens throughout the years.

With the Multiverse Saga coming to an end, we're bound to witness even more unexpected and crazier crossovers come to life. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to unite everyone's favorite wall-crawler with Frank Castle and the Hulk, two of the most violent anti-heroes in Marvel history. Furthermore, Earth's Mightiest Heroes will finally cross paths with the X-Men in this year's Avengers: Doomsday. But if that wasn't enough, we're about to witness some of the most iconic street-level heroes join forces once more after what felt like an eternity.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 set pictures reveal the Defenders are back in action

Marvel made history during Disney's 2025 upfront presentation by announcing that Jessica Jones would make her MCU debut in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Everyone's favorite private investigator is officially set to join forces with the Man Without Fear to overthrow New York's corrupt mayor. With such a big team-up on the horizon, fans began to wonder if the door was open for the Defenders as a whole to assemble on the small screen once more for the first time after their Netflix miniseries, and now we finally have a concrete answer.

While audiences worldwide are currently waiting for the next episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 to release, production for season 3 has already begun. As usual, Marvel tried its best to keep much of the production under wraps, but new set photos have made their way online, and they reveal a shocking truth: The Defenders are coming back together.

The pictures showcase Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Danny Rand walking in New York's streets. While Matt Murdock is the only member of the Defenders missing, it's all but guaranteed that he'll join their ranks, especially considering that such a long-awaited reunion will take place in his own series. Nearly a decade has passed since these four fearless heroes first teamed up in their Netflix miniseries, and they are about to make history yet again.

The Defenders' return has sparked new theories and speculation regarding the remaining episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Now that we know Jessica Jones will oppose the Kingpin's devilish reign to protect her daughter, we have to ask: Is there a chance that we'll see Luke Cage sooner than anticipated? After all, he had a kid with Jessica in the comic book world, so if we're bound to witness a similar storyline play out on the small screen, it would make sense for the Power Man to have a cameo in the following episodes of season 2, at the very least.

While it will be very easy to bring Luke Cage into the fold thanks to his relationship with Jessica Jones, things are a little different when it comes to Danny Rand. Last time we saw him, he passed the Iron Fist mantle to Colleen Wing and headed to Japan in an attempt to find out more about the history of the Iron Fist. Since we never saw the resolution to such a setup, it will be interesting to see how Daredevil: Born Again season 3 (or possibly even 2) deals with the stories that came before it.

A lot of questions remain in the air about The Defenders and why they will join forces again after such a long time. With a bit of luck, the upcoming episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will shed a bit of light on the matter, and if not, it won't be long before season 3 comes our way and gives us the crossover we've been wanting for years now.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is now streaming on Disney+.
