Marvel Comics bringing in the 20th Century monsters like the Yautja (Predators) and the Xenomorphs (Aliens) has been a success. All of the titles that have been published have been entertaining in their own way. For example, Alien vs Captain America by Frank Tieri is set during World War 2 with the Red Skull getting access to the Xenomorphs. To make things worse, in issue No. 3 of Alien vs Captain America, Skull became the Red King and is controlling what appeared to be hundreds of aliens.
WARNING! Spoiler for Alien vs Captain America No. 4 ahead!
During issue No. 4, while Captain America and Captain Marvel (Noh-Varr) went after the Red King, Nick Fury and the Kree army battled Hydra’s Xenomorphs on Normandy beach on D-Day. Despite Fury calling in the Invaders (Human Torch, Namor, Union Jack, and Spitfire), the numbers were too grand for them. Thankfully, Steve Rogers and Noh-Varr defeated Red Skull, but Captain Marvel died in the process.
Fast forward to modern day, and Nick Fury, Sam Wilson, Vision, Carol Danvers, and Sharon Carter found Captain America frozen in ice. This was weird since the incident that almost killed Bucky and Steve Rogers didn’t happen. But this could mean that Cap being frozen in ice is a moment that happens throughout the multiverse.
As Vision defrosts Steve from the ice, readers learn why Steve was frozen. Like in the original story, Cap was sacrificing himself to protect the world. In this universe, it was from a Facehugger. That means what appears to be S.H.I.E.L.D. may have doomed the world in an attempt to do something righteous.
The Alien vs... comic book series may have started as an experiment, but it's now a staple within Marvel Comics. And while Alien vs Captain America concluded, Frank Tieri beautifully left the door open for his universe to continue. Not just with the last panel saying, “The end?” If this project did well (and hopefully it did), the next chapter has plenty of potential.
A world overrun by Xenomorphs happened in Alien vs Avengers, and it wasn’t a pretty sight. Earth's Mightiest Heroes couldn't protect humanity, and the X-Men left for Arrako. It was a world where even Steve Rogers and Peter Parker lost hope. And, shocking to no one, of course, one of Earth’s worst villains tried to capitalize on the tragedy in that reality. Fun fact, it didn't end well for him.
With Frank Tieri writing the next installment, readers would get a continuation with a lot of dark moments, Xenomorphs more terrifying than anything we’ve seen, and so much more. With that said, here’s hoping this isn’t the end.
