Ever since Spider-Man made his first comic book appearance back in 1962, he has faced no shortage of bad guys who have stopped at nothing to terrorize New York City. Comic book fans unanimously agree that the wall-crawler has one of the best rogues' galleries of any superhero, only second to the Caped Crusader himself, Batman. But even if most of the web-slinger's villains are nothing short of iconic, some stand out among the rest, and Venom is definitely one of them.

The Lethal Protector was designed to be the dark opposite of Spider-Man. He even sports a spider logo on his chest, except it is horribly distorted. This terrifying mix of a symbiotic alien and a host has appeared in countless video games, comics, shows, and even movies over the years. Now, he is about to steal the spotlight yet again in a highly anticipated Disney+ series.

Josh Keaton will portray the role of Eddie Brock in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2

The first season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man introduced a symbiotic monster in the very first episode, and season 2 will only double down on this storyline. A sneak peek of the wall-crawler's animated adventure was released at D23, and eagle-eyed viewers were able to spot Eddie Brock in the footage. So now that the cat is out of the bag, voice actor Josh Keaton has taken over social media to announce that he will bring this iconic character to life.

Keaton is no stranger to the Marvel Universe, having previously voiced Peter Parker in The Spectacular Spider-Man and in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Interestingly, he also portrays the role of Peter's father, Richard Parker, in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. So, Eddie Brock will be the second character he voices in the animated TV series.

The first look at Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 revealed that Peter Parker will bond with the symbiote left behind at Oscorp after the season 1 finale. With that in mind, it seems Marvel will go back to the classic storyline of Peter ditching the sentient alien, only for it to become resentful and find a new host in Eddie Brock.

All the pieces are in place for Venom to wreak havoc soon. However, there's a chance that the upcoming batch of episodes will merely introduce the villain and set him up for a bigger storyline in season 3. After all, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 is already stacked with plenty of characters like Ghost-Spider, the Lizard, Chameleon, Doctor Octopus, Nico Minoru, and more. Besides, if we're about to witness Spidey wear the black suit, there will be little time left for Eddie to bond with the symbiote.

Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, stated in an interview with Collider that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is expected to have yearly releases from season 2 onwards. With that in mind, it wouldn't be far-fetched to assume that the season 2 finale will end on a cliffhanger that will be resolved in the future, and what better way to accomplish this than by finally introducing the Lethal Protector in the final moments of the episode?

2027 could be a big year for Venom, as not only will the villain take over the small screen, but rumors also suggest he will star in his own spin-off video game set in Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man franchise. Furthermore, multiple reports indicate that Tom Holland's Peter Parker will bond with the symbiote during the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. The parasitic alien is about to take over the Marvel Universe, and we can't wait to see how it all pans out.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 will be released in January 2027.
