Marvel Studios decided to close out 2025 and kick off 2026 by ensuring that the world was talking about Avengers: Doomsday. That's no easy feat considering that same period of time was dominated by the theatrical release of Avatar: Fire and Ash and the final season of Stranger Things on Netflix. But, just as it always has, the Marvel Cinematic Universe succeeded, releasing four headline-grabbing teaser trailers that gave audiences a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming MCU film.
It was all rumored to lead to a grand tease of the main teaser trailer at the place where Marvel Studios always unveils first looks at its big releases: The Super Bowl. In fact, as the previous teasers on purposely ignored Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom - who is set to be the main villain of the piece - fans were outright expecting to see him in a Super Bowl trailer. Unfortunately, that's not likely to be the case... and it won't be the only MCU movie not to receive a first look either.
Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailers reportedly won't release at the Super Bowl
According to a new report from Deadline, Marvel Studios will be skipping the Super Bowl this year, meaning that there won't be any trailers for its two upcoming releases - Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday - showcased at the legendary sporting event. If this turns out to be the case, it would mark a major first for the studio, which has relied on the large audience that the Super Bowl brings in to launch trailers for their upcoming releases.
In recent years, Marvel has spotlighted teasers for the likes of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Deadpool and Wolverine, and Thunderbolts*. It's become a regular tradition for fans of the beloved franchise to tune in to catch a glimpse of their favorite franchise's next installment.
2024's Deadpool and Wolverine trailer release quickly broke the internet as it officially confirmed the title of the film - and featured the first official footage of Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine - while 2025's Thunderbolts* trailer really highlighted the film's heart, kickstarting a level of excitement for that movie that ultimately resulted in the critical acclaim it would go on to receive.

Needless to say, it's disappointing that there won't be a Marvel Studios trailer to look forward to this year, especially when the MCU has two movies on the horizon that could very well gross over $1 billion - or, dare we say it, even $2 billion! - so it could do with increasing the buzz around both by spotlighting them at the biggest sporting event of the year.
Spider-Man is a bit of an enigma. On one hand, Sony Pictures own the movie rights to the character so, even though Brand New Day is a collaboration between them and Marvel Studios, they will likely be overseeing marketing. As Sony generally skips the Super Bowl, this isn't too surprising. And yet, with just six months to go until the Spidey movie releases and not a single trailer to show for it (other than the one that leaked), it's now four trailers behind Avengers: Doomsday - which doesn't come out until December. So it could have used one on the grand stage of the Super Bowl.
While Disney will have a presence there, the trailers that are expected to receive the spotlight are reportedly Star Wars' The Mandalorian and Grogu and Pixar's Hoppers. Marvel, on the other hand, is building towards its two big releases in a different way, apparently.
