Back when the Marvel Cinematic Universe first started, it was known for developing multiple sequels to almost all of its superhero properties. It was extremely rare if one of the studio's movies didn't have a direct follow-up within a 3-year span. Only Doctor Strange broke this trend, and even then, the soon-to-be Sorcerer Supreme had an important role to play in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame while also having a cameo in Thor: Ragnarok. However, since the end of the Infinity Saga, history has been a bit different.
Key Marvel heroes have been introduced in a project, only to never be seen again. This year will mark three years since She-Hulk's appearance, four years since we last saw The Eternals and Shang-Chi, and rumor has it that the supernatural characters such as Werewolf and Man-Thing won't come back until after the end of the Multiverse Saga.
Fortunately, the superhero giant has recently shifted its strategy from releasing as many projects as quickly as possible to focusing on delivering quality storylines that will fit better within its interconnected universe. Hopefully, that means there will be a more focused narrative going forward, and the heroes we know and love won't be outside of the picture for too long. To double down on this idea, a new report claims that Marvel will finally develop the follow-up we've all been wanting to see, and we couldn't be any more excited.

Marvel is reportedly working on a sequel to Moon Knight
It's been heavily reported that once the MCU's multiversal arc comes to an end, the next phase will be all about Mutants and Marvel's supernatural side. Fortunately, we finally have a better idea of how the latter's storyline will pan out. According to renowned industry insider Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), an adaptation of the comic book event Damnation is currently being planned, and it will lead directly into a Midnight Sons project. Mephisto will be the main antagonist of this event, and multiple characters tied to the supernatural side of the MCU will rise against him.
One of those heroes is none other than Moon Knight, who's set to have another appearance before all hell breaks loose (quite literally). Marvel is reportedly working on a sequel to the Moon Knight Disney Plus series, though it wasn't specified whether it will be a movie or a second season of the show. This project is set to follow Marc Spector and Steven Grant as they try to "solve a mystery" that will lead them to meet the third persona: Jake Lockley.
It's worth keeping in mind that the Moon Knight sequel wouldn't arrive until 2028 at the earliest, after the release of Avengers: Secret Wars. However, there's a chance it will take even longer than that, considering some reports claim that Blade and a sequel to The Fantastic Four: First Steps might be Marvel's priority projects for that year.
On the bright side, Moon Knight isn't the only one who's set to come back in the upcoming years. The same report claims that a continuation of Werewolf by Night is also in the works, and that America Chavez and Wong will star in a Strange Academy project. Furthermore, it was revealed that Ironheart will return in the Damnation MCU storyline, and that Johnny Blaze's Ghost Rider will make his debut soon as well along with a live-action version of Nico Minoru, who audiences last saw in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
All things considered, it appears the MCU won't hold back in the slightest when diving into its supernatural themes. It's been a long time coming, especially since the first season of Moon Knight was released over three years ago. But with a bit of luck, there's a lot more of Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley coming in the upcoming years.
