Few franchises know how to break the internet quite like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In March of last year, Marvel Studios' own Avengers: Doomsday announced its cast across a five-hour livestream. Now, Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day has begun a historic 24-hour long launch of its first official trailer.
Throughout the day and into the evening, the studio will be releasing new clips from the upcoming MCU movie. And, so far, it has already produced some incredible sneak peeks of the film. That includes a major moment in which a Marvel veteran officially returns to the franchise for his first ever MCU movie appearance.

Jon Bernthal's Punisher appears in new Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer teaser
Sony has officially released the first look at Jon Bernthal's Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The clip, released as the ninth sneak peek from the movie, features Spider-Man himself getting hit by a van while simply minding his own business. Thankfully, Spidey latches onto the front so that it doesn't so any real damage - and it's in that moment that we see Frank Castle's face as The Punisher himself is the driver of the van.

This is a scene that we all knew was going to be in the movie as there were plenty of set photos from the Glasgow production featuring the Spider-Man and Punisher stunt doubles, but it's even cooler seeing the footage of Bernthal's crossing paths with Spider-Man for the first time.
This is a big moment for both the actor and the character. Although The Punisher has been a fixture of the MCU for 10 years through his appearances in Netflix series Daredevil and The Punisher, alongside the recent revival of the former Daredevil: Born Again (which officially canonized the events of the Netflix shows in the MCU), Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark the first time that he appears in an MCU movie. And that, understandably, is a very big deal.
The only other star from a Marvel Netflix show to appear in an MCU movie is Charlie Cox, when he brought Daredevil's Matt Murdock to 2021's Spider-Man: Brand New Day in order to serve as Peter Parker's attorney. This was intended to act as Cox's official MCU debut (as the initial plan was to ignore the events of the Netflix shows and reboot those characters), but after Marvel Studios changed its plans, we saw a great focus on the Marvel Netflix characters via the Disney Plus shows.
The Punisher appearing in a Spider-Man movie is a big deal in and of itself, so you can rest assured that MCU fans are excited at the propsect of an unlikely alliance between the two. Adding to that, Mark Ruffalo will also appear in the film, reprising his role from the Avengers movies (among other MCU movies and shows) to bring Bruce Banner, a.k.a. the Incredible Hulk, to Brand New Day. We can't wait to see it all come together.
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has an official release date of March 18, 2026. The film itself will arrive this summer on July 31, 2026.
