Earth's Mightiest Heroes will finally assemble once again, and they might have the help from an unlikely ally if a new tease is anything to go by.

It's been over half a decade since The Avengers last assembled on the big screen to restore half of the life in the universe at the cost of the lives of Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff. Since then, new heroes like Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel have risen to the occasion and kept Earth safe from countless different dangers. But even then, no one in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is ready for what will come next.

Victor von Doom is coming, and he'll stop at nothing to rule the multiverse as a whole. Such a big threat is bound to require the attention of every hero available, and Avengers: Doomsday is keen on delivering on that promise. The upcoming crossover will feature no shortage of iconic characters, as revealed by the official cast reveal. Over 25 fan-favorites are already confirmed to make an appearance, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that even more surprises are in store.

It's impossible not to wonder who else will become a part of Earth's Mightiest Heroes once the multiverse collapses. Fortunately, our time of living in the dark might've finally come to an end. The actor behind an iconic Marvel Legend just teased his potential comeback, and his appearance would only spell trouble for Doom and his forces... as well as the heroes we all know and love.

Ryan Reynolds unexpectedly teases a Deadpool appearance in Avengers: Doomsday

Ryan Reynolds is known for being the face and voice of Deadpool in the Fox Marvel movies. Just recently, he finally joined the MCU during the events of Deadpool & Wolverine, where it was revealed that his character attempted to join The Avengers to no avail. But just because Happy Hogan rejected the application of The Merc With a Mouth once before doesn't mean he'll never join Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Reynolds posted a cryptic image of the Avengers logo vandalized with red graffiti over it. The timing couldn't have been more perfect either, considering that Avengers: Doomsday is currently being filmed. Interestingly enough, the red "A" appears to symbolize anarchy (it even resembles the logo of a Batman villain called Anarky), so who better than the Merc With A Mouth to add a bit of chaos into the mix? The actor isn't currently confirmed for the movie and fans weren't expecting him to make an appearance, so to say that would be a surprise would be an understatement.

At this point, it isn't a secret that Avengers: Doomsday will be all about the dreadful effects of incursions across the multiverse. History has taught us that the longer someone spends in an alternate universe, the greater the risk is of the two realities clashing and destroying one (or both) in the process. Unfortunately, the MCU is on a collision course with multiple parallel universes, due to the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and The Marvels. However, there's a chance that Deadpool & Wolverine will also come into play.

Wade Wilson might've spent little time in the MCU, but it might've been more than enough for him to subtly provoke an incursion. If that proves to be the case, then Deadpool might be forced to decide whether to fight for the survival of his home world or the one that nearly gave him a second chance.

Problems won't stop there, as a different world (the one seen in The Marvels post-credits scene) will also come into play. After all, that's where the rest of the Mutants will come from. So, all things considered, it seems at least three different realities could clash with each other in Marvel's upcoming crossover. It will be interesting to see how all these heroes from across the multiverse will deal with the situation, and whether they will join forces to find a solution or face each other to eliminate the competition.

Deadpool & Wolverine already revealed that Wade Wilson will cross paths with Thor. Granted, that scene played out more like a joke than an actual tease, but it might've been a subtle hint that Deadpool will really be a part of Avengers: Doomsday. Coupled with Ryan Reynolds' recent post, it seems there's a bright future ahead for the Merc With A Mouth.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
