Although it did not perform as strongly as hoped in theatres, Thunderbolts* took the world by storm with both is marketing campaign and the overwhelmingly positive response it dominating the conversation among Marvel Cinematic Universe fans for weeks. Now, it will be available on home media on July 29, so the many people who missed it on the big screen will soon be able to experience the underrated film for themselves. If you do not wish to wait until July 29 to watch Thunderbolts* at home, you might also be relieved to learn that it arrives today on various video-on-demand platforms, including Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.
As reported by Marvel.com, the bonus features will include two deleted scenes, a gag reel, and an assortment of featurettes titled "Assembling a Team to Remember", "Around the World and Back Again", and "All About Bob, Sentry & The Void". There will also be an audio commentary from director Jake Schreier (who previously directed Robot & Frank and Paper Towns), and with such a wealth of bonus material, it really would be a shame to miss out on this physical release.
The film will be available on regular Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, and DVD, so fans will have plenty of viewing options. But keep in mind that the DVD will not include the extras, with only the film itself being present.

Thunderbolts* serves as the thirty-sixth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it focuses on a group of former villains and anti-heroes who reluctantly join forces to stop the threat posed by the immensely powerful Robert Reynolds, who is also known as the Sentry (played by Lewis Pullman). The rest of the cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost Julia Louis Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and David Harbour as the Red Guardian.
The article from Marvel.com also gives us a look at the stunning covers for the physical releases, including a Walmart-exclusive pop-up package and a limited edition SteelBook adorned with custom artwork. Since it earned $381 million in cinemas, the physical media sales alone may not help Thunderbolts* turn a profit after it suffered a loss of around $50 million, but at least fans can add this essential MCU chapter to their home movie collections later this month. That said, with the VOD release and an inevitable Disney Plus release on the horizon (as well as merchandise to take into account), the film will likely position itself as a long-term success story for the studio.
The cast of Thunderbolts* will return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday, arriving in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
