8. Madame Web

What a journey we went on with Madame Web. Fans didn't exactly have faith in the Sony Spider-Verse film series after Morbius but the trailer for this one showed promise, and so they hoped it would be better. Whether or not it was is up to you to decide, but it was not good - and therein lay the problem.

With questionable dialogue, a confusing timeline, and complete lack of comic-accuracy, Madame Web wasn't winning anyone over - and when you're a somewhat lesser-known comic book character in a big-budget comic book movie, you have to win people over. The film was panned by critics and fans alike, with many calling it one of the worst superhero movies ever made.

It's far from one of the worst superhero movies ever made, and if you switch off your search for a logical plot, you might actually have a good time. But there is no doubt about it: It could have been so much more than that.

7. Kraven the Hunter

Sony admittedly did manage to recapture some of its Marvel franchise's glory days after Madame Web's box office failure with Venom: The Last Dance, but it unfortunately found itself ending the year the same way that it started it: With yet another box office disaster in Kraven the Hunter.

The truth is that Kraven shouldn't have failed. It has Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing a relatively well-known Spider-Man character in a movie that looked absolutely fantastic from the trailers. But so much went wrong that prevented this one from living up to any kind of expectations there once were for it. Fans had no reason to expect a strong movie after the response to the Venom films, Morbius, and Madame Web, and the film had been delayed a number of times over the past few years, which also made it hard to get excited about.

The final straw, however, was the response to the film. It wasn't good, with many regarding it as being even weaker than Madame Web and Morbius, which is exactly where no movie in this franchise (or any, for that matter) wants to be. And it's hard to argue with that response when all the typical signs are there.

The action in Kraven the Hunter is phenomenal, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is phenomenal, but the movie itself is a complete letdown that misunderstands its title character and relies too heavily on the action and violence to make up for the lack of a coherent story.
