The Avengers are Earth's Mightiest Heroes. They have been the face of Marvel Comics for decades, and now they are the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Or, at least they were until Avengers: Endgame.

Between 2012 and 2019, The Avengers were the champions of the box-office. At the forefront of the MCU, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, the Hulk, and Hawkeye protected the franchise's civilians from any threats that came from Earth, portals or even Space. However, after defeating Thanos in Endgame, saving half of the MCU's universe and suffering some losses on their own team, the heroes quietly disbanded the group. But with the Multiverse Saga now unveiling a new threat, the time for a reunion is necessary.

We know that a version of the Avengers will reunite - the team have two self-titled ensemble movies on the horizons - but some of the first heroes to join the new incarnation of that super team might surprise you. And it's supposed to.

The new Avengers' first line-up provides some welcome change

According to well-known industry insider Alex Perez, Shang-Chi is going to be a part of the new line-up of Avengers that will be formed by none other than Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, Bruce Banner, a.k.a. the Hulk, and the Sorcerer Supreme, Wong. The scooper revealed this piece of information in their monthly Q&A with MCU fans on The Cosmic Circus, adding that it will create an interesting dynamic between some of the team's various characters as audiences may have to ponder where veteran Avengers such as Sam are.

Shang-Chi's presence on the Avengers isn't all that surprising, as this would succeed the post-credits scene in Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, during which Wong brought Shang and his best friend Katy Chen before Captain Marvel and Bruce to show them the power of the Ten Rings. He then told them that their lives were about to change, implying that an Avengers membership could very well be in their future.

It's also not too surprising to hear of Wong's involvement. The Sorcerer Supreme has become something of a throughline in the Multiverse Saga, appearing in Shang-Chi, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Of Madness and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. In fact, MCU fans have taken to calling it the "Wong Cinematic Universe" these days due to his multiple appearances. That right there highlights just how much of a fixture he has become, and it's understandable that he may have a say over who joins the new Avengers. Rumor has it that he might even headline his own Disney Plus series.

What's also interesting is that Perez mentions how this new Avengers might involve Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Captain America, Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. Winter Soldier, Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man, and more, as well as the Thunderbolts and that Avengers: Doomsday will answer the question of where heroes like that are in terms of the new team - specifically focusing on how Sam might react to the fact that there is a new line-up of formerly villainous Avengers including Bucky. Is this implying that the Thunderbolts will be considered a new arm of the Avengers? That would certainly be an interesting possibility.

It's also worth noting that previous rumors had suggested that the likes of Sam, Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Wong would be among the first members of the new Avengers. That's still possible, but the one we're talking about here seems more feasible simply because of how Spider-Man's story played out in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Whoever is among the first heroes in the new class of Avengers, we're excited to see them light up the big screen.
