Two of the most ambitious Marvel Cinematic Universe films lie on the horizon: Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, fans are already eager to discover what will happen after the credits roll on both of these projects. Earth's Mightiest Heroes are bound to close out the Multiverse Saga with a bang, and after that, we'll venture into uncharted territory. Little is known about what Marvel is planning to do in its next saga, but there are a few leading theories.

Some fans speculate that we're bound to enter the Mutant Saga. After all, the X-Men will have their own stand-alone MCU film in 2028, and they will also have a key role to play in the end of the Multiverse Saga. However, Marvel is likely to push its supernatural characters and storylines forward as well. That's why Ryan Gosling's Ghost Rider will be among the first anti-heroes to have their own movie after Avengers: Secret Wars. Better yet, the Spirit of Vengeance could also join forces with other monster hunters in a big crossover project.

Marvel will work on a Midnight Sons crossover after the release of Ghost Rider

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel will work on a Midnight Sons film after the release of Shawn Levy's Ghost Rider. Moreover, scooper MyTimeToShineHello revealed that the supernatural crossover film is tracking for a 2029 release.

This isn't the first time we've heard about a Midnight Sons project being in the works. Moon Knight actor Oscar Isaac confirmed there have been behind-the-scenes conversations about bringing all these supernatural characters together, which means Marc Spector will likely be part of the team along with Ghost Rider. Beyond them, the lineup remains a mystery.

Marvel originally intended to release a Blade film starring Mahershala Ali, although the actor has already revealed he has "moved on" from the project. That being said, it has been reported that Blade will be among the characters introduced in Avengers: Secret Wars, although it remains unclear who will bring him to life. However, one thing is certain: If the vampire hunter does appear at the end of the Multiverse Saga, he'd likely be part of the Midnight Sons as well.

Werewolf by Night and Man-Thing are also likely candidates to join the team, especially since they were already introduced in the 2022 Disney+ Special Presentation. Doctor Strange has also been a key member of the Midnight Sons in the comic book world, so it stands to reason that a similar scenario will also happen on the big screen.

Insider Alex Perez previously stated that Marvel intended to do an adaptation of the Damnation comic book storyline, in which Mephisto takes over Las Vegas and re-creates a part of hell on Earth. But before we see that arc play out on the big screen, the studio will reportedly release a sequel to Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night. Since both of these projects are likely to be released on Disney+, they could hit the small screen in 2028 along with Ghost Rider. After all, former Disney CEO Bob Iger previously revealed that Marvel wouldn't release more than 3 films and 2 shows per year.

2028 will be home to three films in the form of X-Men, Ghost Rider, and Black Panther 3, meaning there won't be any other Marvel movie adaptations. While we don't know what the studio has planned for its TV division, maybe we can finally see Moon Knight's long-awaited return after his introduction in 2022. This could all pave the way for a 2029 Midnight Sons film.

With the Multiverse Saga coming to an end, it shouldn't be long before Marvel reveals what projects lie ahead. And with a bit of luck, the Midnight Sons will finally hunt monsters on the big screen.

Ghost Rider will be released on July 28, 2028.
