Anticipation is high for Marvel Studios' long-awaited return to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con this year. It's going to be a larger-than-life event as it is every year but, judging by the lines at the San Diego Convention Center this year, this one might be the biggest of them all.
Fans have been eagerly speculating as to what Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege might announce at the event. We know that they will go big on Avengers: Doomsday - and for good reason. The juggernaut movie is set to kick off the final installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Multiverse Saga and if they went big in 2024 on that film, you can bet that they will do the same now that we are just five months out from its release. As for everything else, however, MCU fans might need to taper their expectations.
Marvel fans told not to get too excited about SDCC panel
It sounds like expectations might be a little too high for Marvel Studios' SDCC panel in Hall H according to some insiders. Veteran reliable insider Daniel Richtman took to social media earlier today after asking Marvel fans what they were excited about from the upcoming panel with "... don't expect much", which very quickly resulted in a strong reaction. Meanwhile, fellow scooper James Mack echoed this too, saying that he has "heard people saying not to get your hopes up for today" as "fans are seriously overhyping their predictions".
These responses have left fans a little concerned as to what to expect from the panel. While there were initially hopes for an Avengers: Doomsday trailer, Marvel's decision to release that earlier this week has meant that it won't be the obvious "main event" of the panel. And, with that, there are already fan predictions that the studio could announce surprise returns that had yet to be revealed, or even move on to confirming future Multiverse Saga releases - such as the cast of the highly-anticipated X-Men reboot.
As for what the insiders are actually referring to, Richtman issued a second response in relation to the fan response, offering some insight. According to the veteran insider, Marvel won't be making any TV announcements, so fans hoping for teasers from Disney Plus shows such as Daredevil: Born Again season 3, Vision Quest, or Wonder Man season 2 might be disappointed. He also added that the panel will still be primarily Avengers: Doomsday-focused, with "some exciting stuff" on the movies side of things too.
With that in mind, it sounds like there should still be enough reason to be excited but that we shouldn't be getting too far ahead of ourselves. The Disney Plus show announcements will probably be held back for D23 while fans continue to hope for exciting announcements from the movies, including potential announcements regarding Doctor Strange 3, Black Panther 3, Shang-Chi 2, Midnight Sons, X-Men, and, of course, Avengers: Doomsday.
