There was a time when Insomniac Games was releasing multiple game of the year contenders non-stop, one after another. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered were all published in the span of just three years. Furthermore, Marvel's Wolverine was announced during that period as well. It really seemed like the sky was the limit for the acclaimed developer, but now it's been nearly two years since we've heard anything about it.
Granted, Insomniac had a pretty good reason to stay off the radar. After the infamous 2023 hack, it isn't far-fetched to assume that the team had to go back to square one on multiple of their video games, extend their deadlines, or simply cancel some of their plans. However, that doesn't mean they haven't been working behind the scenes on Marvel's Spider-Man 3. The best part? We finally have new story updates straight from the two Spider-Men themselves.
Fans had a chance to talk to Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter—the voices behind Peter Parker and Miles Morales—during Fan Expo Canada. Fortunately, the wall-crawlers were able to give us a small hint of what's to come in Insomniac's upcoming title.

Peter Parker will come out of retirement
During the events of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Peter realized how much his relationship with MJ had been sidelined due to all the time he spent saving New York. So, after stopping Venom and realizing that Miles is more than capable of keeping the city safe on his own, Peter decided to hang up the suit and live a simpler life with the love of his life. However, we all knew this wouldn't last.
Yuri Lowenthal teased that the original Spider-Man will be back in action sooner than expected by stating: "In Spider-Man 2, Peter wants to take a bit of a break, but I’m wondering… can he?". Of course, this comes after he previously confirmed that "Peter is not gone" and that the wall-crawler "won't be relegated to the couch" in Insomniac's upcoming title.
The only question remaining is: What kind of a threat will be big enough to make the iconic hero jump back into action? Well, we might have an answer.

Carnage is hinted to appear
Peter and Miles might be convinced that the symbiote threat is over, but players who completed the Crimson Hour side-missions know that something horrifying is on the horizon. Cletus Kasady got hold of the Carnage symbiote, and he's ready to tear New York City down. When asked if the iconic supervillain is set to appear in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, Yuri mentioned: "I can’t say anything about that but… they’re definitely cooking something up".
While it's not a direct confirmation that Carnage will be a part of Insomniac's upcoming game, it does suggest the developer has bigger plans in store for him. Interestingly enough, a Venom spin-off game has been rumored for a long time now, which could also be a fitting place for Cletus Kasady to appear. But whatever the case, there will be a lot more chaos coming our way soon, and we couldn't be any more excited. (Is it too much to ask for a Knull appearance, too?).

Miles Morales will go back to his iconic suit
For as amazing as Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is (because it really is great), it had a few shortcomings that not everybody was happy with. Venom's arc was rushed, the Lethal Protector's portrayal was met with mixed reception, and a lot of content was cut. But amidst the problems in Insomniac's latest title, there is one that is crowned for being the absolute worst. That's right, we're talking about Miles Morales' Evolved Suit.
You can find people who liked Insomniac's iteration of Venom, but I have yet to come across a single soul who took a look at that blatantly obvious Adidas collaboration and thought: "Yeah, this is way better than Miles' original look". Fortunately, Nadji Jeter also shares the fans' sentiment and mentioned that "he's pretty sure" his character is going to sport the original suit from this point onwards.
The Marvel's Spider-Man franchise has always offered players countless iconic, beautiful, and sometimes weird suits for them to choose from. However, it's safe to say that almost nobody will miss the Evolved Suit now that Miles will be going back to basics. If anything, it's a huge improvement.
While Marvel's Spider-Man 3 is a reality, Insomniac and Sony have yet to officially reveal the game. With a bit of luck, the announcement trailer isn't too far away. And, if it is, then let's hope that Marvel's Wolverine is finally nearing completion.
