In the comic-book world, Spider-Man and Daredevil are more than just good colleagues; they have become close friends. The two have learned each other's secret identities, helped fight each other's supervillains, and even saved each other's lives. There's nothing this iconic duo can't do... except share the big screen in a team-up crossover.
Granted, Tom Holland's Peter Parker and Charlie Cox's Daredevil briefly crossed paths in the Marvel Cinematic Universe courtesy of Spider-Man: No Way Home, but they didn't get to suit up and fight a common threat. Fortunately, it seems their stories are starting to get more intertwined thanks to the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The wall-crawler's latest adventure features the appearance of Frank Castle's Punisher and the Hand—two major Daredevil players who were first introduced in the Netflix Daredevil series. However, this list of characters was almost longer, but it had to be cut (and for very good reasons).
Rosario Dawson reveals Claire Temple nearly appeared in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but her scene was cut
Speaking during a Daredevil panel at GalaxyCon 2026, actress Rosario Dawson revealed that she filmed a scene for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but it was ultimately cut:
"I even shot a scene in the new Spider-Man movie, but I got cut out."
Dawson's comments confirm a long list of reports that claimed the iconic nurse would have a role in the latest MCU movie. Fans were eager to see her character reintroduced eight years after we last saw her in the second season of Luke Cage. Unfortunately, we'll still have to keep waiting to see Claire take over the screen.
Interestingly enough, the same source that first claimed Rosario Dawson would have a role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day also revealed that Claire Temple is set to appear in the third season of Daredevil: Born Again. With that in mind, the character's return is not off the table, especially when considering that many other characters from the Netflix Marvel shows are bound to return in the upcoming season of the acclaimed Disney+ series.
Set pictures and videos have revealed that Iron Fist, Elektra Natchios, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones are all set to join Daredevil on the small screen next year. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that Born Again season 3 will also feature Claire's long-awaited comeback. Furthermore, there's a good reason why she wasn't featured in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
But before we begin, be warned: We'll dive into major spoilers for Spider-Man: Brand New Day ahead. If you don't want any surprises ruined, it's best to turn back now.

While it hasn't been officially confirmed by Marvel or Rosario Dawson, insiders suggested that Claire was meant to appear in a sequence in which the Punisher brings a heavily injured Peter Parker to the hospital. If you've already watched Brand New Day, then you know this description perfectly fits the end of the film, when Frank uses a sniper rifle to shoot Jean Grey, and the friendly neighborhood hero takes the bullet to prevent her from biting the dust.
The Punisher takes Peter to a hospital where doctors manage to save his life. However, audiences never get to see the surgery play out, and chances are that Claire Temple was meant to appear in this cut scene. Perhaps in time it will be revealed that she was the one who saved the wall-crawler, but for the time being, it's easy to see why Marvel decided to remove this sequence altogether.
The whole hospital sequence is a very emotional moment, and the sudden appearance of an exciting MCU cameo could've interrupted its flow. Audiences would've gone from being worried to excited back to worried again, and the ending wouldn't have been quite as effective. Fortunately, it seems we'll see more of Claire Temple either way, so this is a win-win scenario no matter how you see it.
