Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to bring back an iconic Daredevil character

For a time, it seemed like the characters from Netflix's Daredevil would never be back, but one of them could make their MCU debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Back in 2018, Netflix officially canceled its hit series Daredevil, leaving fans to wonder whether the show's characters would ever find a new home.

For years, it seemed like we wouldn't see Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock in any Marvel Cinematic Universe project. But just when everything seemed lost, the devil's luck changed. The Man Without Fear jumped onto the screen once again in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and slowly but steadily, more characters from the original series have been following his lead.

Daredevil, the Punisher, Karen Page, Bullseye, Wilson Fisk, and Vanessa Fisk now live in the MCU (if only we could say the same about Foggy). Furthermore, Officer Brett Mahoney will make his long-awaited comeback in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Admittedly, the group isn't complete yet, but just like the resurgence of these characters began with a standalone Spider-Man movie, it might continue that way soon.

Rosario Dawson will reportedly return as Claire Temple in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Claire Temple was like the Nick Fury of the Marvel Netflix shows. She appeared in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, slowly but steadily bringing all of these heroes together just in time for the events of The Defenders. Now, she might be about to do it all over again.

According to reliable insider Daniel Richtman, Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple will be back in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While her role still remains under wraps, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume that she could be the one to introduce the wall-crawler to Frank Castle. After all, this would mimic her role in the Netflix series. Otherwise, she could be the one to nurse Spidey back to health, especially now that the superhero has no one else to rely on.

Additionally, it was revealed that Rosario Dawson is in talks to return as Claire in Daredevil: Born Again season 3, finally opening the doors for her reunion with The Man Without Fear. With this in mind, it's easy to see that Marvel has recently been pushing for the return of characters from the Netflix era: Jessica Jones will be back in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, Luke Cage actor Mike Colter has teased his character's comeback multiple times now, and Danny Rand is reportedly coming back to the MCU as a mentor to another Iron Fist.

The timing of these returns isn't a coincidence either. With the MCU's Multiverse Saga coming to an end, it could be time for all the street-level heroes to take over with their very own arc. Rumor has it that the ongoing Devil's Reign adaptation that started in Hawkeye will be at full force in the next saga, culminating in a big crossover where heroes like Spider-Man, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the Punisher come together to put an end to Wilson Fisk's regime.

Street-level heroes like She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Kate Bishop were introduced only to vanish from the MCU in the years to follow. However, they could also make a return in the next saga and join forces with the rest of the Defenders. Who knows? Maybe Claire Temple could be the one to set the pieces up for all of them to team up. Fortunately, it won't be long before we discover whether everyone's favorite nurse is back in action once again, and what her role will be moving forward.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
