Despite already having a trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it feels like Spider-Man's story is only starting. Tom Holland's Peter Parker went to space, fought a purple alien, died, came back to life, and nearly destroyed the multiverse, only to save it by erasing his existence from the whole world. Now, we'll witness him do something he has never done before: start anew.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is just around the corner, and to say superhero fans are excited would be an understatement. The film's first trailer broke a record by becoming the fastest ever to reach one billion views. Furthermore, dozens of people gathered in the streets of Glasgow to watch the movie being filmed. Anticipation is at an all-time high, and to make matters more exciting, it has been confirmed that the wall crawler's upcoming adventure will make the character go back to his comic-book roots.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be the first MCU movie to focus on classic elements of Spidey
During the latest issue of Empire, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature classic Spider-Man elements that haven't been seen in the MCU yet:
“It is the first Spider-Man film that we've made in the MCU that is focused on the classic elements of Spider-Man. He's doing the Spidey thing of living in a rather sad, small apartment, listening to the police scanner, and going out and using his great power responsibly."
While Tom Holland's Spider-Man instantly became a fan favorite after his introduction in Captain America: Civil War, certain elements of the character have been rather polarizing. Some believe he over-relied on Stark Tech to save the day, and others were disappointed that most of his suits were given to him instead of being created by him. Besides, he had a more uplifting life than some of his multiversal counterparts right up until the events of No Way Home.
After losing Aunt May, the only family he had left, and being forgotten by his girlfriend MJ and best friend Ned Leeds, Peter is completely alone now. Not only that, but since Happy Hogan won't be able to contact Spider-Man anymore, the wall-crawler won't have access to any Stark Tech. In a sense, the hero's first MCU trilogy can be seen as one big origin story, since we never saw Peter get bitten by a radioactive spider or lose Ben. So now is the perfect time to bring the character's classic elements back into the mix.
Furthermore, Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton gave us a tease about the wall-crawler's upcoming arc:
"He is dedicating his entire existence to his job. That's the core theme that I find incredibly relatable. I think most people at certain points in our lives have gone through loss. At least for me, and I think for many people, the result can be: 'Screw it. I'm just going to work. I'm going to do nothing else but work.' That’s obviously not the most healthy state."
The film's first official trailer revealed that Peter will undergo a transformation. His powers are changing, and he will now have organic webs. This is likely what will push him to search for Bruce Banner's help, since the doctor knows about radiation and its effects better than anyone else. Now we know this whole storyline will be kick-started due to Peter's mental state and how he decided to put "work" above himself.
Peter living alone and having no one to rely on? Spider-Man crafting his own suits and gadgets? The wall-crawler listening to the police scanner to save the city? It's safe to say that Brand New Day has all the elements to make a fantastic superhero story, and the best part is that the wait for it is almost over.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
