Throughout the course of its Multiverse Saga, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced major heroes who seem to have a bright future ahead. Unfortunately, some of them were left behind and never seen on-screen again. While all signs suggested characters like the Eternals and Moon Knight would get sequels somewhere along the line, that hasn't been the case. Their absence has raised all kinds of questions across the fandom, but it seems we'll get answers soon enough.
The end of the Multiverse Saga is rapidly approaching. Projects like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will change everything we know about the MCU and open the door for major returns. Reports suggest that the Eternals will gear up for action once more, expanding the cosmic side of the saga moving forward.
Furthermore, supernatural characters are bound to take the spotlight, with Ghost Rider set to star in his standalone movie and Moon Knight potentially getting a sequel. Additionally, Marvel will make the most of this opportunity by developing a follow-up to a terrifying Disney+ Special Presentation that first took over our hearts four years ago.
Marvel is reportedly working on a sequel to Werewolf by Night
A full moon is approaching, and howls sound louder and louder with each passing day. According to reliable insider Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), Marvel is developing multiple Special Presentations, such as Heroes-for-Hire, Strange Academy, and a sequel to Werewolf by Night. So not only will we see more of Werewolf, but chances are Man-Thing will also be back in action.
The same source also indicated that there are plans at Marvel Studios to adapt the Damnation comic book storyline, in which Mephisto takes over Las Vegas and recreates his own version of Hell on Earth. This project will feature the likes of Ironheart, Blade, Nico Minoru, Moon Knight, Werewolf, and more.
As is the case with the large-scale MCU crossovers, some setup will be needed to bring many moving pieces together, and that's where the Werewolf by Night sequel and Strange Academy could come in. Furthermore, this strategy could finally open the door for the Blade movie to materialize (although it seems Mahershala Ali has already moved on to new horizons).
As reported by Collider, Marvel is cutting back on developing more Disney+ live-action shows, with Daredevil and the Marvel Spotlight series being the exception. This would explain why Wonder Man season 2 was suddenly canceled, alongside the likes of Armor Wars. However, it does make sense for the superhero giant to double down on Special Presentations, especially since projects such as The Punisher: One Last Kill have proven to be successful.
Marvel's current priority is to close out its ongoing Multiverse Saga in the biggest way possible. As such, it's unlikely that we'll see the Werewolf by Night sequel before the release of Avengers: Secret Wars, which will hit theaters in December 2027. However, since 2028 is already home to Ghost Rider, it would also make sense to release another "supernatural" project that year, and Jack Russell's next adventure would be the ideal candidate.
Of course, it's always important to take any rumors with a grain of salt and wait for official announcements to come our way. That being said, there must have been a reason for Marvel to introduce a character like Werewolf, and it seems we'll find the answer soon enough.
