With every passing tick of the clock, Doom is getting closer. Since 2019, Marvel has been building up a multiversal narrative that's set to culminate in 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars. But before we witness the epic conclusion of the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe arc, we have yet another date with Earth's Mightiest Heroes. All eyes are currently on Avengers: Doomsday, not only because it will finally unite the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and Avengers in a single movie, but because many other heroes could make a surprise appearance as well.

After the official cast for Avengers: Doomsday was revealed, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that other unannounced characters will also make an appearance. Speculation has run rampant ever since that moment as fans tried to uncover what surprises await on the horizon. However, there's one specific Marvel veteran who is all but confirmed to join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in their next adventure, and here's why his return is imminent.

Every piece of evidence that indicates Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will be in Avengers: Doomsday

He might be getting ready for one more swing. Avengers: Doomsday is set to feature a narrative that will see multiple universes collide with each other, as hinted at by the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the ending of The Marvels. With that in mind, the door is open for no shortage of multiversal heroes to join the fight against Doom, and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is all but confirmed to be among them.

According to reliable and renowned insider Daniel Richtman, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Furthermore, the same source also claimed that Tobey was wearing a CGI costume while filming the movie. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello doubled down on this information while adding that Tobey will get to wear a "new suit", which would be a first for the character (as his look has remained mostly unchanged over the years).

To keep the rumors going, insider That REDACTED Guy also confirmed Tobey's appearance in Avengers: Doomsday by stating that the iconic hero will survive the events of the movie and will also get to fight Doctor Doom. But the cherry on top of the cake? Our first look at Tobey in costume might have made its way online thanks to leaked pictures. Nowadays, big leaks like this are usually fake and AI-made. However, these pictures are among the few that have gained a bit of traction for potentially being the real deal.

It has been reported that Tom Holland's Peter Parker won't appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which would make sense as his upcoming movie - Spider-Man: Brand New Day - will feature a street-level story as opposed to a multiversal narrative. With that in mind, it would make sense for another version of the wall-crawler to take his place. Besides, this is one of Marvel's last chances to bring together characters fans have been eager to see team up for years, such as Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

Scooper Alex Perez revealed that the stories of both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will come to an end in Avengers: Secret Wars, which indirectly reveals both heroes are likely to appear in the crossover movie as well. Fans could see the three wall-crawlers reunite one last time before the MCU's Multiverse Saga comes to an end, but not before Tobey gets the spotlight to himself. Just as Deadpool & Wolverine gave a proper farewell to the Fox X-Men era, Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars could do the same with Sony's Spider-Man movies.

While it has been heavily speculated that a trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will be released in December, chances are that it won't feature any shocking reveals, such as the appearance of the first live-action Spider-Man. The most likely scenario is that we'll figure out whether Tobey is set to make a comeback or not upon the very release of Earth's Mightiest Heroes' next adventure. Fortunately, the wait is getting shorter and shorter.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
