Marvel TV boss reveals season 2 could be on the table for this Marvel series

While Marvel hasn't handed out renewals to many live-action series, it appears there is one Marvel Disney+ show which has a good chance of getting a second season.

Marvel has released some truly amazing shows since the launch of Disney+ in 2019. WandaVision, Loki, Moon Knight, Agatha All Along, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Daredevil: Born Again. These are just a few of the incredible shows that have landed on Disney+ and expanded the Marvel Cinematic Universe in new and unexpected ways.

Fans have loved getting to see underrated characters from the movies get the chance to take center stage, many for the first time, via solo projects. They’ve also enjoyed getting to see new characters enter the world of the MCU via these television series which give further room for character development than movies can provide.

Many of these characters have gone on to appear in future projects, but few shows have actually managed to continue beyond a single season. Loki managed to get two seasons before getting put on ice, while WandaVision has continued via spinoffs rather than follow-up seasons. Aside from those two series, though, no other show from the initial Marvel TV launch era on Disney+ has managed to secure additional seasons. Enter Daredevil: Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again has already been renewed for two additional seasons with season 2 coming in 2026 and season 3 expected in 2027. The show is part of a new chapter for Marvel TV, as it puts a focus on prioritizing shows that can continue for multiple seasons without breaking the bank.

Thus far, Daredevil: Born Again is the only show to be part of this new era of multi-season live-action shows; however, it seems there is another show in the pipeline that Marvel TV feels can go on for more than one season.

Wonder Man season 2 is on the table according to Marvel TV boss

On January 27, 2026, Marvel will debut its next live-action series with the release of the Yahya Abdul-Mateen II-led comedy series, Wonder Man. The series will introduce viewers to Simon Williams, a Hollywood actor who is thrust into the world of superheroes when he gets powers and takes on the mantle of Wonder Man.

The series is one of the final shows to have been greenlit before the strategy shift at Marvel TV, which had left many fans to worry it will become yet another one-and-done Marvel Disney+ show. However, it seems that the head of Marvel TV and animation, Brad Winderbaum, is optimistic that the show could continue for a second season.

“So we started developing shows that could last for multiple seasons. Daredevil, we've now greenlit the third season, that'll come out annually. X-Men '97, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, they'll come out annually for a number of years. But there are shows that were caught in the middle. I would put Marvel Zombies on that list, I'd put Wonder Man on that list where we have to see,” Winderbaum told Entertainment Weekly.

According to Winderbaum, “season 2 could be on the table if people watch.” In other words, Marvel TV is open to continuing the show beyond one season, but the show’s future will depend on audience reception to the series. If fans show up and support the show leading to strong ratings, Marvel will surely discuss bringing the show back for another season. However, if they sleep on this series when it drops, there is a good chance we might not get a second season. In other words, the show’s future is in the hands of the fans.

Wonder Man can work as a limited series but the door is left open for a second season

Marvel TV seems eager to continue Wonder Man beyond its first season, but fans are going to need to make their interest in the show known by tuning in. Hopefully, fans will give the show a chance and it’ll be a big enough hit for Marvel TV to order a second season. However, if by chance a second season does not end up being in the cards, it seems that the show has been designed to work as a standalone series.

“If it's the only Wonder Man story, it really stands on its own as a beautiful piece,” Winderbaum revealed of the series.

While Winderbaum teased that the show can work as its own standalone, he also made it clear that the series’ ending is going to leave people wanting more. This seems to suggest that the story won’t be tied up with a bow, and that storylines will be left unfinished in a manner that allows for a second season to occur.

“I anticipate that when people get to the end of this story, they're gonna want more. And I hope that's what happens.”

We certainly hope so as we’d love to see more Marvel series continuing beyond one season, and Wonder Man sounds like an amazing series!
