Whenever there's a big interconnected universe encompassing multiple projects across different media, there's always one big problem to sort out: The timeline placement of it all. The same holds true for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where even the slightest of changes can lead to the biggest of differences. Case in point: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was originally intended to take place before Spider-Man: No Way Home, and America Chavez would've been responsible for bringing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men into the picture. But due to an unexpected delay, Ned Leeds was instead revealed to be a magician (which made little sense).
We all know Marvel likes to plan things years in advance, which means every project has the potential to set up big things to come. That's why we've all wondered when Daredevil: Born Again takes place within the MCU. While the first season didn't provide a concrete or specific answer, we finally know where the second season falls into the timeline. The best part? It precedes what's shaping up to be one of the most exciting superhero projects in the upcoming years.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will take place before Spider-Man: Brand New Day
During an interview with ComicBook.com, Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum, revealed that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in chronological order: "I think everything will go in order. Daredevil Season 2 comes out before Spider-Man, and like I said, there’s a coherence there. They’re part of the world, but I wouldn’t put too much faith in big, strong narrative connections."

Given that the last time we saw Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU was back in 2021, it seems unlikely for his big return to happen in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2—especially when taking into account the Disney+ series will shine the spotlight on other big comebacks, such as that of Jessica Jones. However, there's one big piece of the puzzle that needs to be taken into consideration, and that's Frank Castle.
The Punisher made his MCU debut in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the last time we saw him, he was trapped in Kingpin's underground prison. Well, that very same location was showcased in the leaked trailer of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. That means the series will, at the very least, hint at what happened to everybody's favorite anti-hero. However, the most likely scenario is that Frank will make an appearance in Matt Murdock's upcoming adventure.
Reliable insider Alex Perez revealed that the Punisher Special Presentation will establish "how [Frank] gets to where he is when Brand New Day kicks off". With that in mind, there's a chance that we could see the beginning of that arc since the events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. It's possible that the three projects won't be so tightly connected, but there's no denying they will share a common storyline.
Rumor has it that Marvel intends for Spidey to fight Kingpin further down the line, and best of all is that the wall-crawler is also rumored to cross paths with Daredevil in an unforgettable team-up. The roads between these characters could eventually collide, so the deeper we go into the MCU, the more connections these stand-alone projects will have. Perhaps even the slightest of references or Easter Eggs will await us when Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 hits the small screen. Fortunately, it won't be long before we finally find out what's in store.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will be released on March 4, 2026.
