Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday is on the horizon. It might not have fully risen into view just yet, but we can see it, as the larger-than-life film is set for release in December. And the studio has officially started the marketing push, unveiling four trailers for it between December 2025 and January 2026.
But the excitement levels have been high for much longer than that. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans are always sharing wild theories and exciting updates about what might have in a movie of this scale. Of course, in this particular movie, that comes in the form of potential cameos and comebacks. And believe us when we say that thr rumors have been flowing over the course of the past two years. Unfortunately, it sounds like one of them might not come to fruition.
Charlie Cox says Daredevil won't appear in Avengers: Doomsday
Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to talk about the second season of the MCU TV series. During that chat, host Jimmy Kimmel asked him if he would appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, to which Cox responded "I don't think so."
"I don’t think so. No… as far as I know, I’m not in the Avengers."
Cox joked that the question was making him very nervous but that he doesn't believe he is in the movie. Of course, that doesn't necessarily rule out a potential cameo in the form of archive footage from Daredevil: Born Again itself, but it does seem as if the actor hasn't shot any scenes for the upcoming MCU movie. After all, production in the UK took place during the months in which he was filming Daredevil in New York City.
That being said, Cox's comments don't necessarily rule out a cameo in 2027 sequel Avengers: Secret Wars. That's expected to be even bigger than Doomsday, with fans expecting a larger-than-life multiversal battle featuring stars from Marvel movies and shows across the decades. If that is the case, surely there should be some kind of reference to Daredevil. After all, before the MCU Disney Plus shows came along, Netflix's Daredevil was arguably the most famous Marvel show of the 2010s, so that alone should earn Cox a cameo in the movie.
The actor is seemingly keeping the door open for some kind of Avengers cameo - be that in this one or its sequel - telling Kimmel: "I sit by the phone waiting with bated breath."
The topic of Daredevil's potential appearances beyond his own series came up in coversation when Kimmel asked Cox if he had seen the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. He hadn't at the time due to travelling from New York to Los Angeles for his appearance on Kimmel but he expressed his excitement to watch it, particularly as his Daredevil: Born Again co-star Jon Bernthal appears in it, reprising his role as The Punisher.

When asked whether he appears in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, however, Cox had a more definitive, more confident no but his playful answer has resulted in fans starting to wonder if he actually might be in the movie.
"No. But if I was in the movie, I would also say no. BUT... I'm not in the movie."
While we used to simply take actors at their word, Marvel stars - specifically stars of Spider-Man movies - have a history of throwing fans off with their determination to prove that they are not in the movie. We saw this in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home when Andrew Garfield was committed to telling people that he was, in fact, not in that film. It turns out, of course, that he was in that film, reprising his role as his version of Spider-Man, alongside Tobey Maguire's Spidey, as the two finally got the chance to team up with the MCU's wall-crawler Tom Holland.
Cox also made his official MCU debut in that movie, as Matt Murdock was called in to serve as Peter Parker's lawyer. He reminded Kimmel of that, explaining that he isn't in the upcoming Spider-Man movie as he was in the previous one. But, again, fans aren't totally sold.
Although Marvel Television is building its own, newer multi-season world that isn't going to be as directly influenced by the events of the MCU movies, there will still be exceptions to that rule. The inclusion of The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the perfect example of that. With that in mind, another cameo from the world of Daredevil - including Daredevil himself - would be perfectly acceptable in either Spider-Man or the upcoming Avengers movies.
