Marvel houses some of the most powerful superheroes ever created, all of whom have no shortage of fantastical abilities capable of getting them out of any situation. But as the saying goes: "a hero is only as good as its villain". That's why the comic book company is also home to some of the most ruthless and unhinged antagonists in existence. Thanks to them, the timeless tale of good versus evil never fails to be entertaining, regardless of how many times we've seen it play out.
There's no denying that some antagonists have stood out more than others throughout the years, even if they have few appearances under their belt. Just take a look at Muse — while the character originally showed up in less than 10 issues, that was enough to secure him a spot as one of the secondary villains in Daredevil: Born Again. As if that wasn't enough, he's now making a comeback in the ongoing Eddie Brock: Carnage comic book run. But while we're on the topic of symbiotic storylines, there's no better example of a foe who forever changed the Marvel status quo despite having few appearances, other than Knull.
The King in Black's story might've been short-lived, but it still lives rent-free in our minds. Unfortunately, Eddie forever took him out of the picture thanks to the power of the Enigma Force... or so we originally thought. See, it appears there's a lot more darkness coming our way in the near future.
In honor of 616 Day, #MarvelComics is thrilled to reveal that Knull, the creator of all symbiotes, returns this October in the giant-sized 250th issue of Venom, with stories by Al Ewing, Charles Soule, Carlos Gomez, Terry Dodson, and more!

Knull will be back in Venom's 250th issue
The Lord of the Abyss is making a comeback, and it's happening sooner than expected. To celebrate Venom's 250th comic book issue, Marvel will bring back one of the most (if not the most) fearsome villains the Lethal Protector has ever gone against. However, a few things will be different during the rematch.
The fantastic Venom (2018) run, where the King in Black first made his debut, was written by Donny Cates, who doesn't appear to be involved in the villain's revival. Instead, Al Ewing, the writer behind the ongoing All-New Venom, will craft this upcoming story. Besides, Eddie Brock won't be the protagonist this time around, as he isn't bonded with the Venom symbiote anymore. Instead, Eddie has been making waves as the new Carnage, while Mary Jane Watson has taken on the mantle of the Lethal Protector. So, it will be MJ's turn to face the void.
That's not to say the disgraced journalist will be completely ignored, however, as the giant-sized Venom No. 250 will also contain a tale written by Charles Soule — the mastermind behind Eddie Brock: Carnage. This story will take place back when Eddie was the one and only Venom, which means comic book readers are about to take a trip down memory lane.
Interestingly enough, the ongoing All-New Venom comic book series will be renamed to "Venom" once again after the giant-sized 250th issue. Will this be a stylistic change only? Or will something big take place after Knull's arrival that will spin the saga in a completely new direction? Well, we'll find out this October, but meanwhile, Marvel gave us a tease to go by:
"Knull, the creator of all symbiotes, was killed by Eddie Brock. Nothing could bring him back… but Knull rules over nothing. Knull has returned, and word is racing across the stars to the one who took him down before to prepare to do it again. Will Venom be ready?"
Venom No. 250 will be released on Oct. 1, 2025.
