As Avengers: Doomsday production continues, secrecy is tight. We do know the cast will include scores of faces from past Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, although it’s questionable how much screen time they’ll actually have.

Among the names revealed in the now-famous video was Tenoch Huerta, confirming that Namor will return in the film. One of the oldest Marvel Comics heroes, Namor finally made his live-action debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. While his origins were changed a bit (he now rules the underwater kingdom of Talokan rather than Atlantis), Namor was a strong presence in the film as he battled the nation of Wakanda.

During an appearance on TV Azteca‘s late-night show La Resolana Con El Capi, Huerta made the surprising revelation that he literally had no idea he was even in Doomsday until shortly before the announcement video dropped.

“We were waiting on the green light [from Marvel] and my agents in the U.S. were not sure about the news [of my return. They practically told us around 12 at night, and at 5:30 in the morning, the [cast reveal] livestream started, and they told us, ‘Hey, the news is about to drop.' It was surprising and it was cool.

As for Namor’s role in Doomsday, Huerta hinted that at last, fans may get the crossover for Namor they’ve dreamed of with him and a certain heroine!

Tenoch Huerta suggests Namor and Sue Storm will finally meet in the MCU

During that same appearance, Tenoch Huerta said that Namor’s dynamic in Avengers: Doomsday will be a bit different as it’s a much smaller part than in Wakanda Forever.

“There are twentysomething characters involved in the story, which means we are each going to have smaller roles because there needs to be space for all the characters and all the universes. This makes it a much more simpler role, in terms of time and energy of making a film like this.”

Notable is how Huerta spoke about Vanessa Kirby, who plays Sue Storm a.k.a. the Invisible Woman in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. He described Kirby as “a great and spectacular coworker.” Naturally, fans have taken this as confirmation that we all may get the interaction between Namor and Sue that many FF fans have wanted to see.

Ever since Namor made his return to Marvel Comics in Fantastic Four Vol 1 No. 4 in 1962, there has been a clear attraction between him and Sue. As much as she loves Reed, Sue has found herself drawn to Namor and his royal demeanor. There are a few alternate realities where the two end up together, as their chemistry has always been fascinating to read.

With the Fantastic Four now part of the MCU, it’s impossible not to believe Doomsday won’t have any interaction between Namor and Sue. It's unlikely to be a major romance, given that Sue has a child with Reed. However, it’s a safe bet that the movie will touch on their comic book history in some way. Could Namor be intrigued by and perhaps attracted to Sue? And could that lead to Reed Richards showing a rare touch of jealousy over their flirting?

We’d need a separate movie on FF and Namor to really develop that, but seeing the Reed/Sue/Namor triangle on screen, even in a low-key moment, is yet another reason Avengers: Doomsday has fans excited. The film, which reunites the titular team of heroes, will see the Avengers team up with other superheroes across the multiverse to battle Doctor Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr.).

Avengers: Doomsday premieres in theaters December 18, 2026.
