In fact, the broke teenager from Queens has been more celebrated than ever thanks to the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film was released to overwhelming levels of critical acclaim, with some already considering it one of the best Spider-Man projects ever made (ourselves at Bam! Smack! Pow! included). Better yet, the movie has been breaking box-office records left and right.
From the get-go, Spider-Man: Brand New Day was off to a spectacular start, grossing $932 million during its first three days at the worldwide box office and securing the biggest domestic opening ever at $360 million. The momentum didn't stop there, as the film quickly surpassed the $1 billion mark just six days after hitting theaters. Now, almost a month after its international release, Peter Parker keeps crawling to unprecedented new heights that are a few floors above the Avengers' headquarters.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day surpasses Avengers: Endgame at the domestic box office
On Aug. 24, 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day reached $858.4 million at the domestic box office, officially surpassing Avengers: Endgame to become the highest-grossing MCU film domestically. The last time Earth's Mightiest Heroes assembled on the big screen to bring half the universe back to life, they ended up grossing $858.3 million across US theaters. Granted, it's important to remember that Marvel will re-release Endgame this September, which means the 2019 crossover will have an even bigger box office later this year. That being said, Brand New Day's theatrical run is far from over.
To put this astounding milestone into perspective, here are the top eight biggest films at the domestic box office, and where Spider-Man: Brand New Day ranks among them:

While Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already overperformed past initial expectations, it won't stop there. Projections estimate the wall-crawler's latest film will end its theatrical run somewhere in the $950 million to $1 billion range at the domestic box office, which means it is bound to take the crown away from Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens once the dust has settled.
Looking at the bigger picture, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already grossed $2.22 billion at the worldwide box office by August 24, becoming the sixth-biggest movie, behind Titanic, Ne Zha 2, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, and Avatar. While that alone is an impressive feat, the friendly neighborhood hero is expected to keep breaking records. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is projected to gross $2.5 to $2.7 billion by the end of its run, becoming the third highest-grossing movie ever made.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day had a reported budget of $225 million, and most modern superhero releases tend to invest the same amount of their budget in marketing costs. That means the film needed to gross somewhere between $450 million and $500 million at the global box office to break even, and it has already made more than four times that amount.
While Spider-Man 5 hasn't been officially greenlit just yet, the success of Brand New Day will surely increase our chances of seeing Tom Holland's Peter Parker on the big screen once again on a new solo adventure. And with a bit of luck, we won't have to wait five years yet again for that day to come.
