2025 has been a big year for anime, giving us excellent titles like Solo Leveling and To Be Hero X. However, with the year only halfway done, more surprises are in store this year. As in previous years, the summer season has always been crucial in determining the overall quality of the year for anime. The 2024 summer season gave us titles like Wistoria: Wand and Sword and The Elusive Samurai. Thankfully, the 2025 summer season looks to build on that success and surpass it.
With the spring season coming to a close, numerous fans have begun to set their sights on the stacked summer line-up. The season brings many returning shows and stellar new shows gracing our screens. In that regard, here are some of the most anticipated anime airing this summer.
The Lord of the Mysteries

The Lord of the Mysteries, popularly known as LOTM, is one of the biggest web novels in the world today. The popular story written by Cuttlefish That Loves Diving is one of the novels responsible for propagating web novels in the United States. BC May Pictures is animating the anime, which Tencent supports. While some Donghua have been underwhelming, titles like Link Click and To be Hero X have proved that some donghua can compete with their Japanese counterparts.
The anime is backed by a majority of the novel community who can't wait to see the journey of Klein Moretti begin. It will begin in July 2025
Kaiju No. 8 season 2
Where to watch: Crunchyroll
Kaiju No. 8 season 2 has been arguably the most anticipated season of the year, with many eagerly awaiting the continuation of Kafka's journey. The first season captured the hearts of many with its incredible fight scenes, theme songs, and visuals, ultimately earning the anime multiple nominations at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
Clevatess: The King of Magical Beasts, the Baby, and the Corpse Hero
Where to watch: Crunchyroll (premieres July 2025)
Clevatess focuses on the story of Alicia, a normal girl who has dreamed of becoming a hero since childhood. Eventually, she is chosen by the king to be one of the thirteen heroes charged with protecting the kingdom. She and the rest of the heroes then set out to defeat the demon king Clevatess. However, things take a turn for the worst as they trigger a trap that puts the entire continent in jeopardy. Now, the world's only hope is the baby entrusted to the demon king. The anime is based on the popular manga by Yūji Iwahara and is a must-watch for fans of the fantasy genre.
The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity

It wouldn't be a great season without a new romance anime to add to your watchlist. The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity is, without a doubt, the most anticipated romance anime airing this year. This one had the anime community turning heads with just its teaser, leaving many fans counting down until it aired. The story centers on two rival schools – Chidori High, for delinquent boys, and the prestigious Kikyo Girls' High. It follows Rintaro, a boy from Chidori who may appear to be a delinquent but has a kind heart. While helping at his parents' pastry shop, he meets Kaoruko, and the two bond immediately. However, things become complicated when he discovers she is a student at Kikyo Girls' High. Worst of all, she is unaware of the animosity between the two schools, leading to a hilarious adventure.
Dan Da Dan Season 2
Where to watch: Netflix, Crunchyroll (premieres July 3, 2025)
Science Sarus's Dan Da Dan turned heads with its fantastic first season, leaving many fans speechless with its amazing story and action scenes. The first season concluded on a high note as Okarun and Momo visited Jiji's place to investigate a strange phenomenon. Season 2 will see the dynamic duo return as they face a new threat in the form of Evil Eyes.
Secrets of The Silent Witch

Another anime that has turned heads is the upcoming adaptation of Isora Matsuri's hit manga Secrets of the Silent Witch. The anime follows the story of Monica Everhart, a genius mage and the only one in the world who can use silent casting. She is praised as the genius of the century known for her extraordinary feat of defeating the black dragon. However, Monica has a terrible secret: she is extremely shy, and she has only learned silent casting to avoid dealing with people. Now, her quiet life is threatened as she is tasked to guard the second prince. This anime trailer showcased stunning visuals, leading to an increasing number of fans eagerly awaiting the anime.
