Marvel Studios is busy thrilling audiences with Thunderbolts* in front of the camera, but behind-the-scenes it has already begun preparations for Avengers: Doomsday. You don't have to be a devoted superhero fan to know that the Avengers movies are the centerpieces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so there is a lot of anticipation for the upcoming marquee event. And to say that audiences are ready for what the MCU has in store would be the understatement of the century.

Taking place after the events of Thunderbolts* and the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Avengers: Doomsday looks to bring back MCU veteran Robert Downey Jr. but this time as the franchise's new villain Doctor Doom. The movie is set to bring about an end to the Multiverse Saga, as all of the factions of heroes within the MCU will unite to save the multiverse from Doom itself.

Production just recently commenced and fans are already preparing for the sneak peeks and reveals that could come from the inevitable set photos (some already have!). Now, they are convinced that a new set video confirmed the return of a beloved hero.

Fans are convinced new Avengers: Doomsday set video confirms return of Scarlet Witch

Marvel star Anthony Mackie has shared a new video from the set of Avengers: Doomsday on his Instagram Story wishing everyone plenty of good weather wherever they are. The video (which can be viewed here in a tweet) very humorous as the Captain America stands on what appears to be a mountainous area that is covered in snow, all while more snow continues to rain down on him. Although Doomsday is currently filming in London, fans are speculating as to whether Mackie's scenes are taking place elsewhere for the time being, and what that could be mean for one particular character.

The snowy mountain that Mackie is standing on looks very like the surrounding area of Mount Wundagore. You know, the mystical mountain that the Scarlet Witch brought down on herself in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It was the birth place of the Darkhold and, after being corrupted by its power, Wanda Maximoff vowed that it would never hurt anyone ever again, wiping it from all realities.

It looked like Wanda sacrificed herself in the process. Although it was an attempt at redemption after her heinous actions when under the Darkhold's influence, fans weren't happy with the character's apparent send-off, particularly because the Multiverse Saga had invested so much into the Scarlet Witch's arc. It simply didn't make sense to kill the complicated character off so swiftly.

Since then, fans have been convinced that Wanda will make a comeback to the MCU at some point. Although Elizabeth Olsen has been adamant that the character is dead, audiences aren't buying it - especially as the star said the same thing when Wanda was snapped out of existence by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War (and eventually returned in Avengers: Endgame).

A number of reports have also suggested that Wanda will be back in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, with one insider claiming that she will have a major role in them. This has yet to be officially confirmed as Olsen's name was absent from the recent casting announcement for Doomsday, with the star herself recently saying that she won't be involved in the production of the films as she will begin working on a pilot in the US for TV series Seven Sisters.

This new evidence, however, does allude to the possibility of a Scarlet Witch return. And honestly, the evidence of that has been mounting in recent months, with WandaVision spinoff Agatha All Along walking back the belief that Wanda is dead, opening the door with Agatha Harkness' uncertainty to the question about Wanda's fate. Perhaps Avengers: Doomsday will finally bring the Scarlet Witch back to our screens.
