One of the best aspects of the Disney Plus streaming service is its array of Marvel content. Not only does it feature the vast majority of the Marvel Cinematic Universe library of films, it has produced a number of TV shows and specials also set within that globally-successful franchise. Moreover, it also features an abundance of fan-favorite Marvel movies and shows from before the MCU existed, as well as various new non-MCU projects. Yep, it's a hive of content for fans of the Marvel Comics and superheroes.

It has also allowed our favorite Marvel characters to headline specials of their own, with the MCU taking full advantage of that via its unique seasonal Special Presentations in Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. It's been a while since there have been any of those, but the good news is that Marvel Studios is hard at work on another one for next year.

In the meantime, however, Disney Plus is adding another Marvel Halloween Special to keep us entertained during spooky season.

Spidey And His Amazing Friends' Halloween Special arrives on Disney Plus this October

Marvel fans love a good spooky adventure and we're pleased to report that Disney Plus will be offering them another one this October. It has been confirmed that the special Halloween episode of Spidey And His Amazing Friends will arrive on the streaming service on October 3.

The first chapter of the special is titled "Night of the Goblins" and it will, of course, see Spider-Man battle his archenemy Green Goblin, as clones of the villain threaten the spooky season. Meanwhile, the second installment, "Bat Attitude", will see a device from another one of the hero's rivals Doctor Octopus attempt to control the city's bats. Both installments serve as the tenth episode of the show's ongoing fourth season.

Although Spidey And His Amazing Friends isn't part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is produced by Marvel Studios Animation, which is also responsible for the MCU-adjacent properties What If...?, its spinoff Marvel Zombies, X-Men '97, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda. It's also a fan-favorite for younger audiences, with Disney recently renewing it for two more seasons. So it goes without saying that Marvel fans are excited at the prospect of a brand new, special episode for the spooky season.

Marvel normally likes to entertain its fans with some spooky content over the Halloween season, and it has done a remarkable job of that thus far. It all started in 2022 with Werewolf by Night, which took inspiration from the classic black-and-white horror movies of the 1950s, relying on practical effects, bellowing theme music and a thrillingly good script to pull it off. It was easily the darkest project in the MCU franchise at the time and a welcome use of the Disney Plus streaming service's strengths in terms of what it could add to the MCU.

After a quiet Halloween in 2023, the studio went all out with the perfectly-timed Agatha All Along in 2024. Focusing on Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness, the WandaVision spinoff was intentionally delayed until spooky season to make the most of the timing, reeling in new audiences with its refreshingly witchy approach. It also received critical acclaim and was one of the best performing titles on Disney Plus for the full year. Fans have been calling for more of it since.

Marvel has already treated us with something spooky this year with Marvel Zombies' release entertaining us through the last week of September. It was honestly a little early given that Halloween is still a whole month away, but there is no doubt that this one will remain on fans' radar throughout the next month as spooky season approaches.

And now, with Spidey And His Amazing Friends' Halloween Special, that's double the fun this year. So get ready to see the likes of Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Ghost Spider, and WEB-STER, TRACE-E, TWIST-E, and TWIRL-E swing into action against a multitude of Green Goblins... and maybe some controlled, evil bats too!

Spidey And His Amazing Friends' Halloween Special streams on Disney Plus on October 3, arriving a day after its premiere on Disney Jr. on October 2.
