If there is one thing that Marvel fans have come to expect from Marvel Studios’ films and television shows, it’s that the end is never really the end of the story. Marvel has revolutionized the use of post-credits and end-credits scenes, with nearly every Marvel project featuring some sort of scene after the main or full credits air.
For this reason, fans expected that the Daredevil: Born Again season 2 finale would feature a post-credits or end-credits scene of some kind. After all, the show’s first season ended with a post-credits scene in its season finale and there was an expectation that season 2 would do the same. Sadly, that was not the case.
That’s right, there is no post-credits or end-credits scene to enjoy in Daredevil: Born Again. The episode ends, the credits roll, and that’s curtain call on the season. It was honestly a shocking choice as many expected that the finale would bring at least one bonus scene; however, the truth is that The Punisher is likely the reason why there is nothing at the end of the Born Again finale.

The Punisher special is likely why Marvel opted not to include a post-credits scene in the Daredevil: Born Again season 2 finale
Typically, Marvel uses its post-credits and end-credits scenes to connect the latest film or show to the next project coming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This approach often works as Marvel typically puts several weeks between projects, so the post-credits and end-credits scenes are a way for the studio to continue the story and lay the groundwork for an upcoming project in a way that gets fans excited and keeps them talking.
However, the next Marvel project is not weeks or months away; it's coming literally just a week after the Daredevil: Born Again season 2 finale. We're referring to The Punisher: One Last Kill, a new one-hour Disney+ special starring Jon Bernthal which will arrive on Tuesday, May 13.
The Punisher: One Last Kill will serve as an epilogue of sorts to Daredevil: Born Again season 2, with the special following Frank Castle as he searches for meaning beyond revenge as an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight. Marvel has not officially confirmed the exact timeline of when the special will take place within the MCU, but the expectation is that the special will essentially be used to bridge the gap between Daredevil: Born Again and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The new special is essentially an extension of Born Again, which is exactly why Marvel likely opted not to include any post-credits or end-credits scene in the season 2 finale. With The Punisher: One Last Kill arriving literally one week after the season 2 finale, there was no real reason to tease anything as the MCU's next entry is right around the corner.
That's not to say it isn't disappointing that there was no post-credits scene, but it does make sense that The Punisher: One Last Kill was the reason Marvel opted not to include any bonus scene as season 2 of Born Again ended. While Marvel has released a trailer for The Punisher: One Last Kill, the studio has kept fans in the dark about how exactly the special will connect to Born Again, and it seems they've decided to keep it that way by opting not to include a post-credits scene connected to the special.
What will be interesting is to see if The Punisher: One Last Kill includes a post-credits scene of any kind and if it might tie into Born Again in any manner or perhaps set up Bernthal's return to the MCU in Brand New Day. We'll find out when the special releases on May 13 on Disney+!
