Peacemaker stars choose which DC hero they would trust to protect their city

If you wanted a DC Comics character to protect your city, there are dozens of superheroes to choose from. A lot of them have been defenders of the people for decades and do it better than most. However, they all come with flaws.

For example, there’s Batman. If you pick the Dark Knight, you must live with the consequences. You could be poisoned with Joker toxins, trapped in a building with a giant question mark, or tricked by a loved one who mysteriously leaves a trail of clay behind them. Wonder Woman could be a better protector, but even she can’t be everywhere at once. The Flash can be, and most of his villains aren’t killers. However, the Rogues are annoying.

But who would cast members of Peacemaker pick to protect them? That's what we found out during our recent interviews with Jennifer Holland and David Denman. No, they didn't go with the Peacemaker Christopher Smith. They both said that Superman is the only way to go.

After picking the Man of Steel, David Denman didn’t hesitate to give his reasons why. “The guy is there to try and end wars and maybe try peace. I wish we had more people like that in the world. We’ve tried war, and it doesn’t really work. Maybe we should try peace for once.”

Whether you’re talking about Superman in the comic books or the James Gunn version in the DC Universe, Kal-El is all about peace, even during battles. He’s willing to talk it out with his enemies before and during his fights because he’d rather not hurt anyone. He also knows that the cycle of violence doesn’t stop unless we all contribute, and he’s aware that he should be the example of that.

Jennifer Holland didn’t waste any time picking Superman either, and said it emphatically. “I mean, you trust the guy. If he says he’s going to do something, he’s going to do it. I mean, yeah.”

All of this is 100% true, especially the last part. There isn’t a more trustworthy person than Clark Kent. Not even Steve Rogers, Optimus Prime, or Spider-Man can boast that, and they’re among the most honorable characters in all of comic books. Superman is the epitome of virtue, so much so that characters throughout fictional genres and real life mention him when it comes to being a hero.

I didn’t expect Jennifer Holland to throw the question back at me, but I had an easy response.: “Not Amanda Waller!”

Peacemaker season 2 is currently streaming on HBO Max, with a new episode arriving each Thursday.
