It's been a long wait demigods, but Percy Jackson is back! Disney Plus' global phenomenon Percy Jackson and the Olympians returns for its long-awaited, heavily-anticipated second season, and to say that fans are ready for it would be a major understatement.

This season is set to adapt Rick Riordan's second novel in the series The Sea of Monsters, and the trailers for the show have made it pretty clear that we're going to be getting a loyal adaptation (and a larger-than-life one at that!). Percy, Grover, and Annabeth are in for a monster of a time, that's for sure!

But when can you expect season 2 to air / stream in your area? There's one big change, and here's what you need to know about it.

What time Percy Jackson season 2 comes out on Disney Plus and Hulu

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 episodes 1 and 2 will premiere on Disney Plus and Hulu in the US on Wednesday, December 10, at 12:00 a.m. PT, 3:00 a.m. ET, 1:00 a.m. MT, and 2:00 a.m. CT. That might come as a bit of a surprise to you as the first season ended up releasing in primetime instead of these wee-hours-of-the-morning.

The streamer has leaned towards primetime releases in recent years, but it seems that, in order to reach Percy's younger audience, the show will adopt a similar release strategy to that of Disney Plus' animated shows in releasing later in the evening (and earlier in the morning for the rest of the world).

Speaking of the rest of the world, here are the exact global release times for Percy Jackson season 2, including the UK, Australia, India and more:

But hey, if you lie on, at least you know the episode will be waiting for you on Wednesday morning! And not only will there be two episodes for you to enjoy, the episodes will also reportedly be longer, with each one reportedly running between 40 - 50 minutes this season.

What to expect from Percy Jackson season 2 episodes 1 and 2

It's an era of change for Percy Jackson, Grover, and Annabeth. The three friends last crossed paths at camp in the season 1 finale when they promised each other that they would reunite at the start of the next term. But, as fans of the book will know, this season is set to take them on a whole new adventure. Just like we saw with season 1, what happens outside the magical walls of camp promises to be even bigger than what happens within them, and as this season will be adapting The Sea of Monsters, I think it's safe to say that "bigger" is probably an understatement.

Percy and Annabeth will set out in search of Grover, who has gone missing near the Sea of Monsters. You can rest assured that those seas won't allow for smooth-sailing, even for the son of Poseidon. What creatures will the duo encounter on their travels? I think it's pretty fair to assume that some tentacles will be involved!!

As for what else you can expect, audiences still need a resolution to Luke's defection, where he revealed his true goals to help Kronos, with a long-term plan to ultimately free the Titan from the underworld. Given how close Luke and Percy were in the first season, there is no doubt that the two will have some strong scenes in the second as they now find themselves on opposite sides.

The second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set to be bigger, grander, and more adventurous than the already-brilliant first. We have a feeling it could add "better" to that list of things, too. And we're so ready to see it pull it off!
