What a week it's been in comic books. The Power Fantasy No. 1 by Kieron Gillen with art by Caspar Wijngaard was a reminder to read comic books from Image Comics, Daredevil No. 12 by Saladin Ahmed continued to show a side of Daredevil we’re still not used to seeing, andI can’t forget Absolute Power No. 2, during which Amanda Waller and Brainiac Queen did something that even Superman can’t forgive.

This week, these 10 new titles are also must-reads. But that doesn't mean we can't make some time for a classic pick too.

As always, let’s start with the pick of the week.

Transformers No. 11 (pick of the week)

  • Writer: Daniel Warren Johnson
  • Artist: Jorge Corona

The last time we left off Transformers, the Decepticons were bringing Cybertron into Earth’s atmosphere through a portal. A move that would have cataclysmic effects on the Earth. Can the Autobots stop Shockwave from destroying Earth? Is this where the G.I. Joes get involved?

Green Lantern No. 14

  • Writers: Jeremy Adams and Marc Guggenheim
  • Artist: Fernando Pasarin and Xermanico

Hal Jordan escaped Amanda Waller’s torture device and ended up where she was storing a lot of the heroes’ weapons (Green Lantern No. 13). If Hal can get them to his peers, it will be a turning point in Absolute Power.

An interesting part of this Green Lantern story is Kyle Rayner. Ever since the Thraaros started destroying Lanterns, he’s spoken gibberish because of his connection to the emotional spectrum. This could be where Kyle gets his thoughts together and starts fighting back.

Action Comics No. 1068

  • Writers: Gail Simone and Rainbow Rowell,
  • Artists: Eddy Barrows and Cian Tormey

Both Superman stories tell a tale outside of Absolute Power. Gail Simone has Supes fighting aliens with his only help being Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. Meanwhile, Rainbow Rowell’s story focuses on Lois Lane coming into her own as Editor and Chief of the Dailey Planet. Both are equally intriguing for different reasons and must-reads if you're a Super Family fan.

X-Men No. 2

  • Writer: Jed MacKay
  • Artist: Ryan Stegman

Part of the official description description for this one says, “Six X-Men vs. an invading alien fleet?” That’s more than enough for people to grab this issue. However, this will be more than a fight. We’ll get another example of how the X-Men are adapting to their new home in Alaska and how the residents are taking their new neighbors.

Absolute Power: Task Force VII No. 4

  • Writer: Pornsak Pichetshote
  • Artist: Claire Roe

Failsafe finally gets into action as he hunts Nightwing. He easily defeated him and the rest of the Bat Family the first time they fought (Batman: Failsafe by Chip Zdarsky). The difference is that Nightwing always learns from his mistakes. How Nightwing avoids capture will remind the world why Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman picked him to lead Earth’s premiere superhero team.

Ultimates No. 3

  • Writer: Deniz Camp
  • Artist: Juan Frigeri

It's the debut of Ultimate She-Hulk and she’s more than just any Hulk. She’s leading a secret army of hulks. Does this end in a defeat for the Ultimates or does She-Hulk help them with their mission to destroy the Maker? Also, who is Ultimate She-Hulk in this universe?

DC vs Vampires: World War V No. 1

  • Writer: Matthew Rosenberg
  • Artist: Otto Schmidt

The first DC vs Vampires series was fun and had actual consequences (that was clear when Batman was killed). Now it’s back and Damian Wayne and Kate Kane are going after Lord of the Vampires, Barbara Gordon. The difference is Damian and Kate aren’t exactly heroes. They’re vampires willing to feed on innocent people.

Immortal Thor No. 14

  • Writer: Al Ewing
  • Artist: Jan Bazaldua

A preview for Immortal Thor No. 14 shows a sky god showdown between All-Father Thor and the Greek God of Gods, Zeus.

This is Thor’s 775th issue. That means something game-changing will happen. You won’t want to miss this.

Vengeance of the Moon Knight No. 8

  • Writer: Jed MacKay
  • Artist: Devmalya Pramanik

Is this the end of the Midnight Mission? This writer hopes not. The new characters brought into this series have made Jed MacKay’s Moon Knight a perfect series. That said, ending the Midnight Mission could be another step in the right direction.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Nightwatcher No. 1

  • Writer: Juni Ba
  • Artist: Fero Pe

Mutants are unjustly being attacked. Thankfully, they have someone fighting for them. But who is the Nightwatcher? It was Raphael in the 2007 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Will that be the case in the comics?

Older Pick: The Unworthy Thor

  • Writer: Jason Aaron
  • Artist: Olivier Coipel

What did Thor do while he was unworthy? He drank alcohol and felt bad for himself. He also went on a mission to find a hammer. It was the only way he could feel like Thor again. Along the way, he comes across Beta Ray Bill and Thorri and fights the Mad Titan, Thanos.
