Actor: Vincent D'Onofrio
"Young man, life is not a fairy tale. Not everyone deserves a happy ending." -Wilson Fisk
Wilson Fisk put a stranglehold on people in the real and fictional world. First, he was the perfect villain. He was terrifying physically and had control over an entire city from behind the curtain. Second, Vincent D'Onofrio became the Kingpin, he became the Robert Downy Jr. or Ryan Reyolds of the character. No one else could play him. Because of that, he had to come back. Otherwise, fans may not tune into Daredevil or Echo.
A good judge of a character is seeing what a company has planned for them. In this case, Marvel Studios plans on making Wilson Fisk the new Thanos. Not in the sense that he’ll be taking on the Avengers. Vincent D'Onofrio’s Kingpin is being set up to be the big bad for the street heroes (Daredevil, Luke Cage, etc).
Wilson Fisk leading the way is a big deal. A comic book villain can make or break a series (comic book, movie, or show). With Disney Plus creating more TV/MA-rated content, a lot of the weight will be on Vincent D'Onofrio’s shoulders. Thankfully, The Kingpin can bear the weight. D'Onofrio is going to redefine what it means to be an antagonist and bring more viewers to Disney Plus.
