25 Star Wars and Marvel characters responsible for making Disney+ a success

4. Din Djarin and Grogu
It’s doubtful that anyone knew that The Mandalorian would be as good as it was. Star Wars fans love Mandalorians. It could be the cool helmets or their profession. Either way, Disney knew people would tune in. They didn’t know it would become one of the best shows on Disney Plus. All of that can be attributed to the relationship between Din Djarin and Grogu.
You have to start with Grogu. He didn’t have to say a word to become popular. He was cute and looked like Yoda. This led to him being dubbed Baby Yoda (despite being hundreds of years old). Even after his name was released, people still called him Baby Yoda. It didn’t take long for Disney to turn Grogu into merchandise. As cute as he is, it's not the same without Din Djarin.
Din was flawless in every episode. His action scenes were fantastic, but a small part of his character. His growth as a character made him beloved. He started as an uncaring mercenary and became a loving father and a savior for the Mandalorians. Everything he does is for his people and his love for Grogu. It made the season 3 finale emotional. Din adopted Grogu and bought a plot of land for him and Grogu to live on.
