“I know what I want, what kind of god I need to be — for you, for all of us.” -Loki

A character rarely outshines the star. That happened in Thor. More than that, being the first big bad in The Avengers set the stage for Thanos. Later (Thor 2), Loki's “death” hit everyone hard despite him being the worst brother ever. When fans discovered he lived, it was a relief. This reaction made creating Loki on Disney Plus an easy decision.

Tom Hiddleston was only part of what made Loki one of Disney Plus’ best projects. Sophia Di Martino (Sylive) added to this story. First, she was the antagonist that Loki needed. She matched and sometimes surpassed him in power and skills. As the show continued, they became friends and a little more. It was weird seeing them kiss, but it would have been weirder if they hadn’t.

Loki helped keep Disney Plus’ momentum going. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier wasn’t what viewers expected. Especially right after WandaVision. It was an MCU movie in show form. That’s not what people wanted. Thankfully, Loki debuted and showed viewers that they would give the fans something different and worth their time.

Another way to tell a character is great is by their ending. Loki’s was tragic. He understood his glorious purpose and it was a gift and a curse. He was as important as he wanted to be, but it came with a heavy cost.
