Ironheart

Okay, so technically Ironheart hasn't had a first season air yet, so when we say "definitely won't be back this year", we mean "definitely won't be back on the release calendar this year". We also mean that the titular character won't be back either, even though once upon a time she should have been.

In that recent press release, Marvel Studios confirmed that three MCU shows would debut on Disney Plus this year. Those shows are Echo, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and animated outing X-Men '97. The third season of What If...? is also looking like a potential option for this year, too. Ironheart, however, has been completedly removed from the release calendar.

The upcoming Disney Plus series is set to focus on Riri Williams, with Dominique Thorne reprising her role from 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It was also supposed to premiere in 2023, but after it was announced that Marvel Studios would be pulling back on the amount of cinematic and streaming releases in a single year, the show was expected to release in 2024 instead.

As for why it was pulled from this year's line-up, that answer is the same as it is for all of the shows on this list. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it has wrapped filming but the show had not yet been completed before the strikes went into action. Though they have now ended, Marvel's commitment to its new "less is more" approach probably means that Ironheart will premiere in 2025.

In fact, that's looking like it's exactly what is going to happen. As reported by The Direct, a filing at the US Copyright Office for the Ironheart premiere has an approximate release date of September 3, 2025.
