5 more TV shows that definitely won’t be back in 2024
Andor
This is perhaps the most surprising of all the entries on this list.
Yes, a second season of Andor was commissioned by Disney Plus, and yes, it is still happening. It started filming in September 2022 and was expected to last until August 2023. However, the SAG-AFTRA strike resulted in a production shutdown before it could be completed. It has not yet resumed production.
This isn't as well-known as you might think, because when Disney Plus announced its 2024 line-up at the end of 2023, there was a mix of shock and disappointment about Andor's absence. It seems like the show was set to be a part of this year's schedule, but the strikes and the subsequent shutdown have probably made that impossible. With a show as ambitious as this, set in the almighty Star Wars universe, you can bet that there will be a lot of post-production needed, so even if production does resume shortly, it's unlikely that Andor season 2 would air this year - especially with all of the Star Wars shows already planned.
The first season was critically-acclaimed, receiving praise for its mature narrative and performances, with many feeling that it was perhaps the best recent entry in the Star Wars mythos. Needless to say, hype for the second season is very, very real.
Here's hoping Disney or Lucasfilm provide some kind of update about its filming progress soon. Nevertheless, it really seems as if we're looking at a 2025 release for Andor, too.
