The first time I sat down to watch Daredevil on Netflix, it didn't take long to figure out that I was watching something special. The show was gritty, clever, and exciting; the main characters were likable, and you could feel the power that a villain like Wilson Fisk commanded. The story had weight and intrigue; it was truly a masterpiece. When Netflix cancelled it, it felt premature, and because of that, the fan base was relentless in pursuit of its revival.

It feels great knowing that we won that battle — we have Daredevil: Born Again on the way — but Netflix set the bar high, so expectations for the upcoming Disney Plus series are through the roof. But because of Disney's history as a family-friendly company, fans aren't without their skepticism.

The Mickey Mouse Factory has been trying to ease concerns by releasing reports about what fans should expect from Hell's Kitchen's acrobatic crime fighter. The most recent report instills me with even more confidence that they'll pull this off.

Speaking on The Official Marvel Podcast, Marvel Studios' Head of Marvel Streaming, Television and Animation Brad Winderbaum discussed what fans can expect from the show, and it's very exciting:

"These characters have matured, things have changed, society’s changed. Matt and Wilson have changed and their characters are going to collide in ways we’ve never seen before. It’s no longer enough to try to murder each other, there’s a whole game of politics at play."

Daredevil: Born Again may be Disney Plus' best show

The production of Daredevil: Born Again has gone through rewrites and reshoots to get things right. By all accounts, it was important for all involved to make sure they embraced the essence of the Netflix series while taking things a step further. They have a responsibility to exhaust all efforts to push the story forward without dropping any quality from the product the fans have come to expect from this series.

This is my favorite Marvel series—that includes all of the shows pre-Disney Plus MCU era and post-WandaVision. The number of times I've watched the series, I'll keep to myself, but it's enough to roll my eyes every time "Foggy" Nelson started talking about his mom's wish for him to be a butcher as if he'd told me the story a million times. Needless to say, my hopes for this show's success are through the roof.

Talk like this is exactly what we need to see. We've seen Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk at each other's throats, trying to take each other's lives. We've seen Fisk try to use deception to weaponize the city against Daredevil. How do you take their rivalry up a notch without burning it out? It's a tough task, but it's the one bestowed on the creators and these reports make me believe they pulled it off.

Actors Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio have spoken about their involvement in the creative process to ensure the product is exactly what fans deserve. Brad Winderbaum's comments seem to support this too, as it will build on what was already established in the previous series. They all seem excited about it, and if they're excited, I am absolutely fired up.

Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere in March 2025. No exact date has been announced.
