Marvel will finally do the one thing we've been waiting for in Daredevil: Born Again

Daredevil fans have been waiting to see The Man Without Fear do this since he joined the MCU. It sounds like it's finally going to happen.

Marvel Studios currently has a lot of projects in development for both the big and small screens. Its most eagerly-awaited movie is undoubtedly Deadpool and Wolverine, but on the Disney Plus side of things, it's easily Daredevil: Born Again. While much of the plot of the new series remains under wraps, it is set to be a legacy sequel to Netflix's Daredevil series, carrying on the stories of the character introduced in that show.

That wasn't the initial plan it seems (even though actors Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio were reprising their roles) but somewhere along the line Marvel Television changed course and now we're set to see a show more in-line with its predecessor. And a new report confirms that it will also feature the one thing we've all been hoping for.

Daredevil: Born Again will reportedly have a one-take hallway fight

According to a report from The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez, Daredevil: Born Again will likely feature a one-take hallway sequence like the original Netflix Daredevil series. Asked about whether fans could expect one, the Marvel scooper said he had "heard many wonderful things about how the stunt and fight coordination teams worked on this show and the way it was done". He then went on to compare Marvel's approach to the series to that of X-Men '97 in that it will respect the original material, building on it, and elevating it. And honestly, that sounds like everything we could hope for.

The original Netflix series ran for three seasons between 2015 and 2018 and it was critically-acclaimed. Among the many features of the dark and gritty Marvel Netflix shows were the one-take hallway fight scenes. The first of them debuted in the second episode of Daredevil when The Man Without Fear battled a number of thugs to rescue a child at the end of the hallway. It was a jaw-dropping sequence that truly set the standard for fight choreography in both action and superhero projects.

It isn't too surprising to hear that Born Again will be taking its cues from its predecessor. Ever since the release of Echo, the Netflix shows have been canonized as part of the MCU timeline, and Echo itself has paved the way for the arrival of the darker, grittier MCU shows (it was the first to receive a TV-MA rating). Moreover, it too featured a one-take sequence during a fight scene, so fans have been hoping that Daredevil's return would follow suit. That appears to be the case.

The sequel series fans have been waiting for

Daredevil: Born Again seems to be in good hands. Marvel has listened to the fans when it comes to what they want. And honestly, fans know what they want because they had it already.

The original Daredevil series was a gem, known for its own unique tone and original, grounded take on the superhero genre in a field of light-hearted CGI-heavy superhero content. Its cancellation had nothing to do with its popularity as it continued to perform well for the streamer, and that was a frustrating way for such an epic show to bow out. So we've been waiting for the characters to return for years now.

Though Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio have been back on-board as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin since the characters were introduced to the MCU (the former in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the latter in Hawkeye), the original plan for these to be alternate versions of the characters met met in the Netflix show, with the Daredevil: Born Again series aiming to tell its own story. That plan was scrapped after production began and the series was reimagined as a sequel to the original, bringing back beloved characters such as Karen Page, Foggy Nelson, The Punisher and Ayelet Zurer's version of Vanessa Fisk.

The reports that it will also feature one of the show's trademark fight scenes are more than welcome, highlighting how Marvel Studios is ensuring Daredevil: Born Again is the Daredevil series fans have been waiting for since the original show came to an end.
