The anticipation for Deadpool and Wolverine is at an all-time high. Marvel Studios is betting big on the film, with recent box office projections looking like it will all pay off. The film is expected to break box office records for an R-rated movie (and likely garner the best opening weekend of the year). It's both an indicator of the hype for a third Deadpool movie (and his arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

It also has the added bonus of existing within the MCU's Multiverse Saga, meaning that it will have the Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness appeal in that there could be - and will be - countless cameos that will get audiences talking. Whether those cameos are from previous Marvel movies, the MCU, or potentially even global pop superstars, all eyes will be on the film once known as Deadpool 3 to see who shows up.

Now, a new teaser trailer from Marvel themselves have confirmed that a long-rumored character will strut their way onto the silver screen.

New Deadpool and Wolverine teaser features first look at Lady Deadpool

Marvel Studios have released a brand new look at Deadpool and Wolverine, showcasing some new footage and teasing fans with what they can expect from the upcoming movie. Among the new footage was Wolverine taking on the film's main villain Cassandra Nova, new scenes of Deadpool showing off his acrobatic skills in the Time Variance Authority, and the titular duo tied up together, too.

Another new sequence, and probably the biggest talking-point from the new teaser is the first look at Lady Deadpool. You can check out an image of the sequence below.

The shot features Lady Deadpool's legs slowly strutting through a foggy, rainy landscape and it instantly sent the internet into meltdown. It also confirmed a year full of rumors suggesting that the character would indeed appear in Deadpool and Wolverine. All rumors are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but in a movie like this one (where literally anybody could cameo), fans have been attempting to be extra cautious in a bid not to get their hopes up too high.

What's also interesting is the name that has been attached to the character, with a recent report likely confirming who is behind the mask. Be warned, potential SPOILERS are in the next paragraph.

Lady Deadpool's identity may have been confirmed

Lady Deadpool will reportedly be played by Blake Lively. The Gossip Girl and A Simple Favor star has been rumored to be playing the role for months now, with a number of Marvel insiders and scoopers all claiming that she is indeed the one who is wearing the red suit in Deadpool and Wolverine. And what makes it all the more likely now is that the other person whose name came up in those conversations among fans reportedly won't be in the movie after all.

For months, fans have speculated that global pop superstar Taylor Swift would be making a cameo appearance in the MCU movie. The vast majority of those rumors claimed that she would be playing Marvel character Dazzler, but a number of more recent reports suggested she could be playing Lady Deadpool instead. However, Entertainment Weekly have since confirmed that Swift won't be appearing in the film in any role.

That significantly increases the likelihood that Lively is the one donning those signature red boots. Given that she's Ryan Reynolds' wife, it would be a pretty epic nod to both the character and their partnership if she played a version of Deadpool from an alternate dimension (and it would be very cool to see them share the screen together again).
