Deadpool and Wolverine's jaw-dropping cameo revealed (and it's not who you're expecting)

Deadpool and Wolverine will feature many surprises, but we didn't expect this to be one of them.

While 2024 is set to be a quieter year for the superhero landscape, the two movies coming out this year are destined to become juggernauts. DC will bring back The Clown Prince of Crime in Joker: Folie à Deux, while Marvel Studios will make history in the summer's Deadpool and Wolverine - a film that will welcome both titular characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time.

Yes, the hype is high for Deadpool's third adventure and it could end up being one of the most pivotal movies in the MCU's Multiverse Saga. Not only will it bring in Ryan Reynolds' fast-talking Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman's claw-wielding Logan to the shared universe of superheroes, it's rumored to feature plenty of cameos, too.

Fans are hoping for some X-Men cameos since this will be the film that proves pivotal in the team's introduction into the MCU, but one cameo has just been revealed. And wow, is it an unexpected one.

Thor will be featured in Deadpool and Wolverine

Marvel Studios took to the stage at CinemaCon to tease some of its upcoming titles. Deadpool and Wolverine understandably got the main event slot given that it's the next title on its slate, and that came in the form of 9 minutes of footage. That footage reportedly featured none other than Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder, Thor.

According to the description from The Wrap, the footage sees Wade Wilson being shown a clip of Thor crying over Deadpool's body, with varous other outlets reporting that Mr. Paradox then tells him that this happens in the "not too distant future". Deadpool then reportedly breaks the fourth wall and says: "Suck it, Fox, I’m going to Disneyland. Get f*cked."

We last saw Hemsworth's God of Thunder in Thor: Love and Thunder. It was pretty clear then that we would see him in the future, as the film implied that there would be a fifth installment in the franchise. However, it's safe to say we weren't expecting to see him throughout the remainder of Phase Five as there weren't any movies that he could feasibly show up in. Of course Deadpool and Wolverine would be the one to catch us off-guard.

What is interesting is that some outlets have suggested that Hemsworth himself will be appearing for the scene while others believe it to be unused or repurposed footage from the 2013 film Thor: The Dark World (specifically the scene where Loki seemingly died in Thor's arms). Whatever capacity Thor appears in, it's going to be exciting to see him and Deadpool in the same place at the same time.

While the various descriptions of the footage also reveal that Wade will see a clip of Chris Evans' Captain America, it seems that this will definitely just be recycled footage from previous MCU movies and that Evans himself will not be making a cameo appearance in the movie. And if he were to make a cameo, it's unlikely that Marvel would spoil the surprise by releasing that footage at CinemaCon.

Old footage or new scenes, it will be exciting to see cameos from two major Avengers in Deadpool and Wolverine, and they are probably only the beginning of what's to come. With a guest appearance from Aaron Stanford's Pyro already confirmed (and the hope for more X-Men cameos, too), the excitement for this movie continues to soar.

Is it summer yet?
