The season 3 finale aired over a year ago, and it saw Superman battle Doomsday in an epic showdown that took place in Smallville, Metropolis, a subway station, and space itself. The beast was created from the ashes of Bizarro Superman after Lex "killed" him so many times that he evolved into the infamous DC monster, who confronted the Man of Steel in his home in Smallville.

It was a heck of a set-up for the final season, which is no doubt going to be an emotional rollercoaster. The show should have been on the air for much longer than just four seasons, but the final season was the result of decisions that took place behind the scenes.

After The CW's sale to Nexstar, all of its programming was in jeopardy but Superman and Lois had the added gravity of new leadership at DC Studios, who wanted to launch their own standalone shared universe with their own Superman. Thankfully, the Arrowverse offshoot managed to survive one more time, getting a renewal for a fourth and final season.

It's undoubtedly going to be an emotional ride, and we can't wait to see how this incredible Superman story comes to a close.
